Lets see some Hinderer action

I can do all of these , the small jade is a gen 6 on teflon and probly the hardest one to flick.
And no not the maximus

If you have ever had a ZT 550 it's very much the same to use the thumb studs to flip open a Hinderer. It seems impossible until you figure it out then it fires open as hard or harder than the tab.

lol I’m not. I tried making a gif of it but it didn’t work.
It’s all about the technique ;)
JUST TO CONFIRM with you guys:

You guys can flick the thumbstuds WITH YOUR MIDDLE FINGER to open your hinderers? Pretend you lost your thumbs

No, I don't do a spydie flick on a Hinderer with a finger only. If I want to use the thumbstuds to flip a Hinderer open I use very much the same motion I would on my ZT 550s ... it involves thumb and finger (and I happen to use my index finger) on each side and without trying to in depth explain the "feel" of it ... it begins with both thumb and finger and as it breaks free you learn the feel and it flips open very easily and with force you would get with a well dialed flipped tab or even more. If you've ever flipped open a ZT 500 (which at first seems next to impossible) then you will know what I mean by that. But once you have the motion figured out it is easy to do and easy on the finger and thumb and fires the blade open with authority. It sounds a bit awkward but once I learned it it is anything but awkward and surprised me how easily it is to do and how hard it fires the blade open.

Now on Gen 4 or earlier XM-18s many of those I could flip open with thumbstuds using my thumb or finger because of the weaker detents, but all of the Gen 6s I have the detents are very well dialed in and the method above works well.

Working finish scale has arrived

I don't know if it's in my head or not, but the knife sounds LOUDER now lol

It is 110% not rubbing anywhere, it is centered. Must be in my mind

Look's great.

It's not your head, Ti scales definitely change the sound of the XM-18 opening. I wouldn't say louder, just different. It also changes tone as the detent breaks in .... Weird subject for a knife discussion, I know. But beats the Spydie-flick subject, for sure.

Then again, my wife says I have a noise fetish :)

Normal to me that the knife sounds louder - it should be, with a thicker ti scale as compared to a g10 scale on top of a thinner ti liner. Beautiful knife

I just really noticed how mangled my pivot screw is tho. Ordered 2 this afternoon

Need to be more.careful >·<

I'm determined to make this happen. I guess I one of my Gen 6s will do this.

When I do it, I rest my middle finger on the blade right over “USA” and then with my fingernail resting on the thumb stud I push the blade out. 8C9A2724-6804-436A-AA3A-6A85B5C3C714.jpeg
As you can see, its not straight up or straight out, but at an angle. The main thing though is not to push down too hard on the blade, which I think goes for regular opening with the thumb stud also.

Hope it works for you!
