Lets see some Hinderer action

For whatever reason, I love the skinner profile..with a bit of modification....

Question: is the stop pin touching the blade tang when opened, or is it just the thumb lugs

I've looked at it from all angles, using a flashlight to look for light peekin thru, and as far as I can tell the blade is secured by both the thumb lugs and that pin.
A friend said his only contacts with the thumb lugs. Has me curious now

You are talking about the XM-18, Gen4 and forward, I assume.

Depends on the knife. The thumbstuds will _always_ contact the scales. Some of my XM-18's have a more visible (albeit tiny) gap between tang and blade than others.

What I do know is that the stop pin is adjusted to fit the detent hole. Stop pin thickness varies across different knives. If you'd consider swapping a blade between two XMs, you'd have to swap the stop pin, too. Don't ask me how I know :)

Roland.

Just bought a working finish ti-scale for my xm-18 3.5" fullered spear

Hopefully it looks as cool in my mind as it will on tuesday. I searched and searched, but haven't found anyone using similar setup

Not seeing many discussions on the fuller spear xm-18 3.5". How is it compared to the regular spearpoint? Wondering If this should be my next hinderer.

Well now you got me curious. Working finish scale with what blade finish? I’m sure it’ll look awesome.
Just the regular stonewashed finish. I got the smooth, working finish ti scale comin

I don't have any others to compare, but I'm enjoying mine. The fuller is nice, you can flick open like with spydercos(spydie flick)

Can you really flick your fullered spear open with a finger flick like a spydie? I can't even use the thumbstud to open mine. I guess I would work down the detent and build a ramp but I prefer the flipper tab anyways. But back to topic, does yours middle finger flick open? and did you do any modifications to make it work?

I put a textured WF Bronze scale and WF harware on a Fullered Spearpoint I like it ... "Battle Bronze"

I used a textured "Battle Blue" WF Blue scale on a Swedged Spearpoint with WF hardware before and it's one of my favorite Hinderers ...

No mods needed. If I try to flick the blade open straight up, its a bit tough, but flicking it parallel to the ground or even angled up a bit, it flies open.

If you have trouble with the thumbstuds, you can pinch the fuller with your middle finger and thumb, open it past the detent, and seamlessly slide your thumb over to the thumbstuds as it is opening to locked position. Nice for an easy one handed slow roll open

The thumbstuds are pretty harsh, but I can open it with the studs now. My trick is to open it like my umnumzaan: the force of my thumb against the thumbstud following the edge of the handle scale

Back to the spydie flick for a second..

That's using.absolutely zero wrist movement. With a little wrist it goes easy(wrist is a hard no for me)

Actually, now that I'm home and have it in my hand: I can spydie flick it open in any position.

I dont usually do this, and hasn't tried in awhile. After flipping it probably 1000 times since I last tried(when it was brand new), it has broken in quite a bit.

Flies open. So yeah there you go. Would post a video if I could

Already, I'm done hijacking the thread. Post pics!

The flick is much much easier then thumbstuds, since it is closer to the tip. It will swing open with more authority the closer to the blade tip you do it
