Lets see some Hinderer action

Is it battle blue or just stonewash blue? I have one battle blue XM-18 and I love the ano. I put a battle bronze Eklipe Bowie in the shopping cart and hesitated to click to checkout.

It's stonewashed blue. I like battle blue and battle bronze, too (it's basically anodized working finish). Depends what scales you like, too. Battle bronze goes great with green, for instance.

Roland.

Let's say hypothetically you had two identical knives. One had very strong detent and came flying out every time, but a slightly annoying lock that kind of grinds and jitters open. The other one has a weak detent, deploys 1/3 times, but everything is buttery smooth and pleasant. Which is the better blade?

Neither. But seriously, either one can be fixed/tweaked to better action relatively easily.

I've seen videos for drilling out the detent hole, and putting sharpie on the lock surface. Any other suggestions?

If there's no improvement after cleaning out the detent hole typically I'll adjust the detent on mine. Easy to do, just take it slow. Sounds like the one w/the weak detent needs more tension on the lock-bar. I've played around a lot w/the lock-bars, you can dial them in pretty good with a little patience.

To me there's no bad Hinderer, they sometimes need a little tweaking. I've never had to send one back and all mine (10) work like I think they should.

You have to work the lock surface (on the tang). Best if its clean, and i use pencil sometimes.

Regarding the detent, i only had one that i couldn't fix, and that had a flat detent ball. Don't touch the hole, just increase the lock bar tension.

So between the two, we like a slightly sticky lock up. It will wear in over time.

If I don't return the other one, I'll watch youtube videos on slowly bending the lock bar. Thanks all!

I wonder if all the micarta scales shown in this thread are made by RHK or some are by other after market makers. How do the micarta scales made by rcbw fit? Are they worth the money (only half of RHK ones)? I am specifically searching for XM-18 3.5" and Eklipse gen 2 and 3 (which I believe have the same scales).

I am interested in getting a green micarta scale as well. I'll probably wait for a RHK one though. On a different note, I was originally thinking I would get some bronzed hardware on my battle bronze/red knife. Now I think its going to look blingy and weird. I want to keep this thing looking dark and worn. Anyone have pics of various titanium hardware on battle bronze? I went through the whole thread and didn't notice any examples of working finish hardware, and very few of battle bronze/bronze HW.

My XM has battle bronze hardware, so I can get you partway there. ;) The pivot screw wears in pretty fast as it sits proud (and I scuffed mine inside the slot while installing it); I suspect it'll take some time for my handle screws to show any wear.

I really like that.

I don't see any battle bronze hardware available right now except for a a pivot screw on DLT. But yeah, I guess battle bronze hardware would get me there for the flat dark look. I still wonder what working finish hardware would look like against a battle bronze scale, and I'm looking for more pictures of standard bronze hardware on battle bronze scales. That is an interesting look, but too shiny on the G10 side.

I don't have these exact configurations but here's battle black with battle bronze hardware & battle blue with working finish hardware:

Here’s Battle Bronze and Working Finish hardware on Stonewashed if that helps.
