Lets see some Hinderer action

Do y'all think heat coloring the end of the pivot nut could affect performance? Unsure whether that is a dumb thing to do while I have it apart. I just don't want it to stand out so much against the dark battle bronze.

e: after some quick searching, it looks like applying heat could change the temper. not a great idea. Oh well no biggy. I'm not too fussy about how my tools look. I kind of wish I had just gotten un-ano stonewashed.

The Ranch anodized that to get it to the color it's at currently. So no I don't think redoing the ano is going to hurt it if you know what you're doing.

The vintage Hinderers have heat-anodized pivots. Takes quite high temperature to change the temper, just do it quickly and without the metal getting orange.

Wish I had seen this thread a while ago. Anyway, here are some of the Hinderers I've picked up in the last year or so.

Here they are all together.

When I decided I wanted a Hinderer, I didn't set out to get the daintiest, most precious little one. I am happy with how it came out, but there will be a large and nasty bowie or harpoon in my future. This one is probably more practical for my mostly urban life:

What color is that scale?

Solid small Hinderer with very good bearing action and useful blade shape/thickness.
Just the flipper tap is a little too pointy for me. Anybody with similar feelings about this?
I'm thinking about rounding it up a little, but haven't decided yet...

Great picture! I said it earlier on this thread, but I had a 3" XM-18 spearpoint flipper with a choil. When open and not using the choil, that point on the flipper tab would dig into my index finger. When using the choil, the same point would dig into my middle finger and also push my index finger in the choil closer to the blade.

I was done and had mine up for sale. Someone traded me their 3" non-flipper. The non-flipper is now my go to.

Some have rounded off the tip of the flipper tab, but I didn't want to do that for warranty reasons.

I have a couple of slightly/DIY rounded tabs. Its a function of tab geometry and strong detent. Just grind down the last notch of the tab chimping. Why use a knife that hurts you ?

Thanks Gentlemen!
I will give it a try for a few more days like it is. But as considered to be a user, I'll propably make it a little more comfortable as suggested.
