Lets see some Hinderer action

That stonewashed blue is excelent. I was torn between the stonewashed and battle on the Ti scale for my Eklipes makeover.I went battle thinking it would closer match the blue black G10 it is replacing. The knife was just too shiny for my tastes so Its out for DCL, hoping to mute it just enough. Still not sure I chose right but its too late as they are out of stock again…View attachment 1765504

I am unable to stop looking at that beauty. It looks like the continuing evolution of the XM. We saw great change with the Eklipse and this looks to be another step. The ONLY thing stopping me from hunting one down is the blade length. I just cant go past 3.5 without fear of getting my CCW revoked… There is a Constitutional Carry bill in our house right now and perhaps once passed we will get a bill including knives with it.

BTW, here is an alternative to carrying a larger Hinderer (XM24 in the pic), that might go along with your CCW. More comfortable too for such a heavy knife. Carry this at 8 o’clock, usually, leaving room at 3 o’clock for a fixed blade.

Are xm-24 bowies in a high demand? I see quite a few selling in the exchange for ~$200 instant markup.

Just new. People wait until they’re gone from the shelves and then flip them. Happens for all Hinderers now. Same for Project X, for instance.

I've always been curious about the Monkey Edge frag Hinderer scales, so I picked an FDE one up as a possible alternate scale for my orange XM-24. I was surprised how much smoother the frag pattern feels than Hinderer's standard "chain link fence" pattern (which is one of my all-time favorite handle textures).

It grips fine if you bear down on it, which I guess is what really matters, but even then it doesn't grip quite as well as the stock scales. I suppose if one wanted a midpoint between stock texture and smooth, MEFP might fit that bill. Ah well, into the parts cabinet it goes. 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully this data point will be useful to someone else. :)
The MEFP Eclipse is the same. I wish they were milled deeper like how a MEFP SnG is

Unfortunately that's fairly typical for a Hinderer, but "shhhhhh" you're not supposed to talk about it. Just take pretty pictures and post them on Instagram. Seriously, from personal experience the skinnies tend to be a bit sharper out of the box, but the regulars not so. My regular Recurve, Wharnie, and Spearpoint were all about the same level of sharpness/dullness as you experienced with your Recurve. That's my biggest beef with Hinderer knives.
I got a Work Sharp Ken Onion Elite and it did the trick. Worked great after I practiced on some old knives a bit first. Now it has a nice stable 25 degree convex edge and can slice paper like a champ. the recurve was no problem at all. I swear I think it came from factory with a 30 degree edge. No wonder it was having trouble cutting paper.

I had a KME system before this that I’m getting rid of. didn’t have the jewel attachment for recurves though. The KME was time consuming, easier to scratch the blade or round edge on, at least for me. I like the work sharp much much better, especially for simply maintaining the edge.

Also glad I didn’t bother sending the dull factory edge back to Hinderer to fix. Would have worried about it getting lost in mail or something.

Love my tanto, hs and Bowie ecklipses, not to mention, Emmitt and Ranch, but you are dead on! Everything else is flawless.

Is that a BM clip on your wharnie? I like it.

Thanks. This is made by a guy in Southern California, also makes other custom Ti hardware, like Spyderco Military backspacers, etc. Takes long to get after order (2-3 months), but quality is perfect. I like these because the screws are counter-sunk.

Same clip on a 24, shown this photo before ....
