Lets see some Hinderer action

That is why my collection is transitioning into Medfords. Actual Ti-RIL's made in America, with hand-ground blades to boot.

To each their own. There's ample room for all sorts of custom and production makers in this thing of ours.

Agreed, but I miss being able to by a Hinderer (they are made an hour from me) in the simple RIL style I prefer, without a countersunk blade & scale (to make room for bearings).

While I understand, as a fellow knife guy...in the grand scheme of things it's small potatoes.

You've found a solution that at least partially works for you with other makers, whether production or mid-tech, and there's always the road to hell custom route. (I kid, I kid.)

Anyway, I find that as time goes on I'm less inclined to spend a lot of my remaining time worrying about the fifteen zillion knives that make up my collection. 🤣

Could just be me not finding the "deals", but it seems to me the Gen4 and earlier are starting to command a bit of a premium on the secondary market.

Not my area of expertise. I just bug ferider ferider when I need a fix. (But I have an admittedly small Hinderer collection, and am not nearly the connoisseur that the devotees of this thread are.)

ETA...I should have said "my friend" ferider ferider ... which would have been a more accurate statement.

The secondary market is nuts right now, prices are totally unpredictable. Looking for something specific ?
Much appreciate the help; not looking right now, just keeping my ear to the track to stay reasonably knowledgeable on brands I favor. In Hinderers, I'm strictly an XM guy - I've had all three sizes in multiple blade shapes (I particularly like the bowies and spantos - well, wharnies too on 3"), and have tried Tri-Ways and skinny's (neither were my cup of tea).

The xm-24 bowie secondary market price is more ridiculous. People bought them for less than 600 and immediately flipped for 800 or more.

1st post here. The following is being cross-posted from the Latest Acquisitions thread.

Finally purchased a Hinderer that I think that I want to keep!

It has been a "Goldilocks" affair. The Gen 6 XM18-3 was "too small" and the XM24 was "too big" (and I sold them both because of that), but the recurved Gen 6 XM18-3.5 that I just bought seems to be "just right."

It fits my hand like a glove. I particularly like the recurved blade (because I'm a Ken Onion fan and just like that shape) as well as the choil which is also perfectly positioned for my hand. It's currently running on bearings and the blade action is very smooth.

Who knows what I'll think of it down the road but I'm very happy w/it for now. :)

That’s nothing, have you seen what the MEFP Eklipse Wharncliffe is going for? It does suck, but I don’t care if I have to save for 2 months (or more) and spend a grand, I’m currently saving up for one, to go along with my tanto, Bowie and spanto Eklipses. That is my grail knife at the moment. 100%. I do love the 24 Bowie, but I can’t get past the look of that huge choil. Plus I’m a huge fan of the Eklipse and black knives in general
