Its not that i dont like it its just that i prefer something like a spyderco. Just going to get another shaman. I wanted to try out Hinderer and they are built impressively. But at the same time, the half “choil” cant be used as well as other knives. Its super enjoyable to flip and close but my heart just belongs elsewhere i guess lol

There's a choil-less version of xm-18.

Does anyone here have an XM-18 with a black scale and also custom hardware? I ordered a black micarta scale, and I'm trying to decide on some hardware to go with it. I am leaning towards bronze/battle bronze.

Brass hardware would look great with black scale. Bronze or copper hardware will match the black scale too.

You're welcome! I know this hunt well. Not everyone labels their photos, and a straight-up search can be less than useful. I've combed through this thread many times over the years looking for specific configurations.

Here's another pic of mine that's a little more true to the current state of the patina.

Brass hardware will tarnish but it is easy to bring back shiny and I do it with a piece of cloth and Mothers aluminum polish.

If you are looking for bronze and want to save some money, you can heat anodize the existing hardware on your stove top. Here are a couple of sets that I did.

Yes, I have them on some of my knifes to make the knife less obvious, and they work well. XM18 & XM24:

They work great on the Fulltrack as you don't need the underlying plate, just need to dremel the G10 a little:

These days I prefer deep clips made from a guy in San Diego, they take forever to get, but the screws are countersunk. On an XM24:

You did a great job with flaming the SS hardware. I ended up with darker color, guess I flamed it a bit too long (with a little butane torch).

Anyone got lucky to grab an XM-18 3.5" no choil wharnie from DLT? I struggled competing with other humans or bots. Every time I added one to my shopping cart and went to the step of paying, the system said it is out of stock. Fumbled a good 15 minutes or so and somehow got through even if the website said all out of stock. Not sure what happened.

I was amazed I got one. Pay screen took forever and I expected it to be out out of stock when confirming.
But got confirmation, and when I went back to the page it said all sold out. 3 minutes from when it went live.

That’s crazy, but I’m in the same boat, I’ve only bought about half my Hinderers (3 I think) new from dealers. It’s not just DLT tho, i think it depends more on the model/blade shape.

I was lucky and got a blue G10 scale. I mistyped my CC number and thought I would loose out. It took me two minutes before I was done. I really like the No Choil and felt fortunate to get it. I hope it is a good one.

I was fortunate to score the latest GEC drop on DLT (which sold out in like 2 minutes) but was not even able to see a single Eklipse flipper less on EKnives. I even thought that the drop was delayed.

Until now I cannot figure how I managed to grab a XM-18 flipper less a few years ago on DLT, while taking all my time choosing the model I wanted. Big knife mystery for me
