Yes, Battle Black is similar to ZT's BlackWash (both are stonewashed DLC). I wouldn't call plain black DLC more reflective necessarily, but it definitely looks crisper and blacker than Battle Black.
The battle black is more of a roughly finished matte coating. Their stonewash dlc on the other hand has a sort of a glossy finish, not quite as roughed up as the battle black, smoother in feel as well. It does show finger prints due to the shinier nature, but I find it to be very attractive. Thanks for sharing that, very helpful understanding all the different black colors. The black DLC looks amazing but the battle black would definitely hide scratches much better
To be honest I don’t usually like coated blades, but their black stonewash dlc is an exception for me. Their standard stonewash is probably the best user finish though imo.
That one must be rare, I can’t ever recall seeing one “in the wild” lol…most of the black ones I’ve seen lately have been battle black I think, like on the MEFP Eklipse and XM18 3.5” Spanto in 3V…those are REALLY nice, that specific Wharncliffe Eklipse is one of my grails.
I have a stonewashed Ti MEFP Eklipse scale I’ve been holding off sending somewhere to be DLC’d in hopes of scoring an actual DLC/battle black one from monkeyedge but it doesn’t seem like they’re coming anytime soon. My MEFP Eklipse is Battle black. I wonder how the stonewashed MEFP Scale will look if I get it DLC’d
Personally I love that two toned look, I'd vote to leave as is!
I will for sure put it on and try the two tone out for a while if I decide to keep this and send it off for DLC. Will share here when I do! My pair today as well. Love these knives!
