Lets see some Hinderer action

So going back to the DLT Project X drop, I’m on all DLT’s Hinderer mailing lists. I see all of the XM drop heads-up emails Etc.

I didn’t get any email about this last PX drop. WAS there an email that went out?
Ditto for me, didn’t see any heads up. Sometimes they do surprise drops, would have loved to have known that one was coming though!!

The PX is about the only Hinderer I don’t have. If I don’t currently have a particular one it means I didn’t care for it enough to hang onto it.
The PX has eluded me since its release!
I absolutely love the blade shape. It seems like it might feel close to a FullTrack as far as it’s dimensions, maybe bigger.
I need one. :)

I snagged one from the very first drop on Hinderer’s site. Didn’t love it, sold it. Totally want another anyway, I have a problem :)

The PX never pulled me as I _love_ my Fulltracks, and I prefer the more symmetric build. If I understand right, they were developed in parallel. Not sure why the PX "won". If you like the hunt for a knife, and like the idea of a PX, I suggest to try out the Fulltrack instead.

I got the email on Tuesday about 0830 California time.

"Hinderer MagnaCut! 3.5" XM-18 Skinny, Jurassic, & Project X" was the title of the email.

From what I’ve read the stock full track configuration was just too pricey for them to offer at their asking given all the titanium, so it may have ended up being a loss. At the same price and with a g10 front scale I suspect the project x ticks a lot of the same boxes but they don’t have to jack up price to make a profit. I wish they’d bring back the full track and just raise the price a bit if necessary :)

I never received an email from DLT about this drop of PX and skinny 3.5 magnacut. Just going by the looking, FullTrack wins me over Project X. I regret that I did not snag a FuulTrack when I could. FullTrack nowadays is much more difficult to come across than Project X.

I love that Rick quickly spun up a Gen 1.5 FullTrack and retooled the lockbar access - remember that?

A lot of the first FullTracks were plagued with lock-stick and were not fun knives to manipulate. I was one of the ones in contact with Rick’s team and DLT to get this fixed. I got my knife back except it was a new knife that had no more lock-stick and it was the new style with the deeper show-side cutout for lockbar access. That was a debacle.

Not too long after that, the new XM-18 3.0 Skinny came out with major lockbar access issues. I had 4 of those things and ended up selling all of them off due to the lockbar access issues. I think Rick ended up fixing those things too. I was over it by then. There were some form over function mistakes for a while there…

I do regret not picking up another FullTrack in Black Stonewash DLC - what a rare, good-lookin’ knife.

Rick’s pretty much abandoned Black Stonewash DLC and just does Battle Black now, which sucks.

These were the days when new drops would sit with availability for an hour or two before selling out. The good ol’ days.

It seems many people just love battle black. I do like black stonewash DLC more.

I'm also amazed by how fast RHK drops got snatched so quickly nowadays. I guess part of the reasons are (1) the sluggish action of older generations has been fixed by the tri-way system such that RHK folders nowadays are nearly perfect, and (2) RHK has maintained its prices while all/most other manufacturers have been jacking up their prices, e.g., a ZT0562cf now is about $300 - it's not a bad knife per se but if I am going to spend that amount of money on it, I'd just add $130 to get a real Hinderer (XM-18 3.5").
