Lets see some Hinderer action

And here I was: thinking that the "X" was the red-headed stepchild. It has to live alongside of my Portsiders...

It appears nobody has mentioned the stupid Hinderer Armorer's Tool with a design defect on the screw-in side: it can easily scratch the lockside of the handle if you are not holding it very carefully and absolutely no movement. Well, one can certainly point that end off the handle though it just feels awkward to use it that way. Including mine I have seen recently three knives got scratched on the exact same spot. Look at the last picture of the XM-18 Bowie in the above post if you are not sure what I am talking about. I'm gonna put a rubber band/washer with the proper size on that end of the tool to prevent the same sh!t thing from happening again to me. Not mean to pic out the above poster (a great XM-18 you've got there); rather just wanna remind folks.

I've always thought the armorer's tool looked a little fiddly. That's disappointing to hear.

I just use a #14 spanner with a piece of masking tape over it for the lock side, and a wide flat head (ditto on the tape) for the show side.

Got it, and use it.
I'm the worst klutz on the Planet; yet that tool never let me down.

^ You must’ve never had one that was really stuck. Though I can’t see the scratches on the Blue XM-24 (their stonewashe blue sometimes looks scratched up, even brand new) I did the same thing to my Spanto Eklipse, and I have 2 different Hinderer tools lol

Anyway, Eklipse WHARNCLIFFEs going for sale tomorrow TODAY, not battle black AFAIK, but man I’m so happy I never paid the $1,000 or so for the MEFP 3V Eklipse.
(Not that it’s not a badass knife)
Always loved the Wharncliffe blade on those models, and hated the 200% markup, maybe this will help with that on the secondary. Love this, and I’ll definitely own one eventually…assuming I can eventually get one under 6 bills…
I’d be all over this, but I have another Hinderer on the way right now 🙂 (hint: it’s a big boy :-D )

Good luck to those who have the money to spend, and are lucky enough to score one in the 15 seconds they take to sell out!

Sorry if wrong thread for this question but can someone tell me if the 3.5 Xm-18 skinny takes the same hardware as the regular? I just got a skinny slicer, something I’ve wanted for a while, and a Ti sale for it and I have an extra brass 35 filler tab that I want to use on it and maybe considering all brass hardware.

^^ this. Works very well - I use a good #14 without tape. Pic repost:

Nuts, stand-offs, pivot-screw, pivot, stop pin and scales are different.
