Lets see some Hinderer action

Per their website

"All RICK HINDERER KNIVES products carry a limited warranty for the serviceable lifetime of the product. We guarantee our knives, pens and tools against manufacturing defects in materials, construction and to perform as advertised when maintained and used properly. Our Warranty does not cover normal signs of wear, rust, damage or breakage due to improper use, improper modification, or lack of maintenance. We cannot cover lost fasteners or hardware under warranty, but we do sell those parts. Any product we determine to be defective will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. To receive warranty repair or replacement, the owner must send the product to us to be evaluated. No other warranties are implied or expressed other than what is specifically stated here.

...snip...

If we determine that it is something other than a defect in workmanship or materials, we will inform you if the product can be repaired and your cost. If your knife has been abused or has seen hard use for a long period of time, it is possible that the useful life of the product has been exceeded."
Thank you for the response. I have an email in to the mother ship to see if they can further clarify. I guess it wouldnt be such a big deal if i didnt get so darn attached to these things.

I used to run either skiff or taco ceramic bearings in all my Hinderers. the last 3-4 months I have been using the teflon washers. holy cow are they smooth!! They dont rocket open like with bearings, but the flipping action is still good. Now everything is switched over.

anyone else like Teflon?

You might get lucky and they find a defect in the metallurgy that caused the break, but if they deem it to be your fault they would fix it for a price. It can't hurt to pick up something else to carry while you send it in. In my case I buy 1-2 or 5 spares 😂

If I broke one I would fully expect to pay to have it rebladed. I just wish they could give a straight answer on the subject. I have plenty I could use while one is in the hospital. far more than i need...

Did they ever make the Firetac without the lockbar insert?
Yes there are. The first Firetac’s were made around 1996 and were linerlocks. Later, they became frame locks and were made up to 2006, all of them will be handground and they are highly sought after. The Firetac was brought back in 2017 with both handground and production. The production ones had the lock bar insert but the handground ones did not.

Thanks Whitty I will. I haven't bought anything from your shop yet, but theres a couple anodized ZTs I want.

Sam just posted over on the FB page that Hinderer is close to starting a reblade program for both broken and worn out blades. For broken blades, he said it will depend on the damage. I assume that means to the lock etc. For worn out blades, he said they will be in the same blade grind, the program will not have a fast turnaround and they cannot guarantee the blade steel. I think it sounds fairly similar to the program CRK has. I think overall this is good news. It means our favorite knives will live on even after the blade is worn out.

^^^Sounds like great news!
And I feel like I need a HH scale now, I see them everywhere in all kinds of color combos and I want one lol just not sure which color or for what model yet 😂

Incoming… my first knife in S45VN, and only my 2nd blue Hinderer. She sexy. Besides being low on blue Hinderers, I figure it will be the easiest color to find if I end up getting a Ti scale for it, which I inevitably will.

It's very nice, but I just couldn't fall in love with that blade shape - I need Spantos and Harpoon Spantos, skinny if possible, but a clip point harpoon tanto isn't quite my thing.

I just got my first micarta scale recently and I love it! until now I had always gone full Ti on my Hinderers, but man, I love the feel of micarta. it doesnt make sense but it almost feels warm in comparison. i cant wait for it to start to wear in and really become "mine" do any of you guys love micarta?
