Lets see some Hinderer action

I've had a few XM 3.5's over the years and really didn't think Hinderer had anything else that I really "needed'. Then, influenced by you knuckle heads (sorry, fine Blade forum members) I bought an Eclipse. Although I really like the XM, I think the Eklipse raises the bar a bit. Less jimping on the ellipse is great addition. The fit in my hand is about the same but I really like that the lock side has screws instead of free rotating nuts. I recently found out the hard way recently that a little loctite goes a long way on those. With my XM's I've always had some issues with opening with the thumb studs but with the Eklipse, I can actually see it performing well without the flipper tab. Ok, enough rambling, enjoy your Hinderers guys!

Me and the wife took a long weekend trip to Gatlinburg TN, and of course I had to make my pilgrimage to the big knife store with the blue roof. Looked at and handled a bunch of stuff, but in particular I was captured by their selection of Hinderers in stock. I finally took the plunge and bought my first, man the action on this thing is sweet!!

And the sickness begins 🤣

I bought my first Hinderer from them as well about 4 years ago. Such a cool place! Made my family spend a whole day in there and to punish me I had to take them to Dollywood… it was aweful!

Looks like the Eklipse Hollow hooked a bunch of us!

Only had it a few weeks and man it’s almost impossible to use my thumb on the stud to deploy it. I have xxl hands and it’s hard to position them without putting pressure on the lock bar. I can easily reverse flick it though. Sort of on the fence if it’s a keeper or not. I did order an xm-18 skinny hollow slicer today as well as an Eklipse hollow slicer. Really excited about the Eklipse since it doesn’t have aggressive jimping by the flipper tab like the xm-18 does.

Stick with it. Mine was the same way and it is breaking in nicely. I’m about a week into it and ya my thumb is sore….

Yeah I can imagine with big mitts like you have 😆My best advise is loosen your grip as much as possible and try to get your finger tips as low as possible on the handle. Be aware of were your thumb is on the thumb stud and be careful your not putting any pressure on the lockbar” EDIT” if your a lefty.either way you should be able to flick it open with just catching the corner of the thumb stud.. Once you find the correct position of your hand and thumb “if possible with your xxl hands” when you do it will be like muscle memory and you won’t have to think about it your hand and thumb will be were you need it 👍🏻 also if I open it right handed I try to rest only the tips of 3 fingers on the pocket clip to ensure I’m not on the lock bar.
If your thumb is sore now give it a break for a day or two and you’ll have better luck and comfort trying again.
