Lets see some Hinderer action

Guess what I'm doing tonight while the wife's at work?!?! Do you guys rotate the hardware while it's on the heat or anything?

I didn't. A little advice, Make sure the whole cooktop is extremely clean. When I did my stop pin it rolled across the glass top and bumped into a crumb when I attempted to pick it up. Now there is a black spot where the crumb burnt on contact, I had to install the pin so it wasn't visible.

Ok good advice. How long we talking like minutes or seconds on the heat?

Nice fat scratch on my fatty straight from the dealer. As much as i want to like the wharncliffe blade style and after playing with it for a while, I never had that "bonding" moment that I've had with all my other hinderers so unfortunately this one's going back.

I don't blame you - for that amount of money it's got to be, at the very least, free of any scratches or any other marks. I would've returned it as soon as I saw that.

Thank you

From what I gather, the difference in time just depends on the shade of bronze you want. Also in case you didn't see the previous page of posts, dropping the stuff into a cup of ammonia (Windex, Glass Plus, Parson's) afterwards - cools it and makes the bronze shade richer.

Ok great thanks

Np bud, and yea i set em and just watch...you don't wanna go to far as it turns blackish blueish...and unlike ti you can't go back an redo it by sanding it off..

Well you can but it won't be as dark a bronze the second time.

The stand offs also turn bronze alot faster than the nuts screws and pivot for some reason

The first time I did a clip screw because if i screwed it up it was easily replaced. I picked it up after a minute(with needle nose pliers) then every 30 seconds till I liked the color. I'd advise everyone to go through their own trial and error process and find the sweet spot of their stove.

There use to be but between fanatics and trolls it wasn't the best of times.

Is that why Hinderer/Rob Orlando wanted it shut down? Or was it just another one of Rick's hissy fits, someone daring to compare his knives to something else.

Got two new knives in the mail today but neither more anticipated than my Midnight Sun Industries package. This does not disappoint!

Nearly 5K of my posts were in the Hinderer sub-forum...it's still a resource of information but was closed before the production exploded and all the newer stuff rolled out. The stickies are informative and the photo thread is still drool worthy.

Oh and never recall being referred to as a "fanatic" or "troll"...just a guy who came to the forum to share information and enjoy the hobby/community.

I'm with N2K on this one, I found it a great place to get info on anything Hinderer and a great community that shared their appreciation for Hinderers. Unfortunately the demise of any Knife Maker's sub forum diminishes the whole Blade Forum Community. Sad to see ZT leave us also, I hope in the future we keep our existing membership of knife makers and maybe add more of them.
I was introduced to Hinderers here on BF which gave me insight to their product line and how to maintain it as well and most importantly developed friendships in that community, sure miss that N2K.
