Everyone has a different definition of perfect. kershaw and ZT rip my fingers to shreds because their detents are too strong. I like being able to take my knives apart and adjust them to my liking without having the maker void a warrantee. Different strokes for different folks. That being said Hinderer has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and I'm sure they will honor it.
Much agreed here, and with the others below. These knives are high end and are meant to be "customized" by the user in these small ways. Much like Ratman79 said, the "issues" are not critical to the knife's function but they are personal tweaks.
You make adjustments to the knives to suit your personal preferences, uses, and needs. That's part of what, in my opinion, makes it worth spending the $400-$600 on these kinds of folders. The cheaper knives can't be customized, they are what they are and you either like them or you don't...So they aren't really for everyone.
In contrast, with the right tuning and minor adjustments, I think XM's and others in the same arena are well worth the money and although it can be incredibly tedious at times trying to get it "just right," I actually like that I can tune it to my liking to a completely different standard than another user with the exact same XM model.
And with regards to an earlier post above - I've never heard of any knives that "come apart" in people's pockets, so I don't know what's up with that. Obviously they messed with it/loosened the screws/nuts. That's not the manufacturer's fault that's the user's fault.
