Let's see some knives headed to Seattle next weekend

Clean, crisp, well executed. Wish I could be there to see them up close.

Got home an hour ago from a show I didn't know was gonna happen until 10 am yesterday morning! And dang, there was more talent packed into a small room than I have seen in a couple of decades!!!! Kudos to Daniel for putting this together and, from the few hours I was there and all the steel I came home with, he pulled off a major show!!! I don't think I've seen that many custom kitchen knives and their makers anywhere! And if I cooked, I would have been overwhelmed by my choices, no matter the style of cooking or of cuisine! But I don't cook and satisfied myself with several other kinds that I colect and that I found stunning... and could afford.
But most of all? It was meeting new makers I don't know and remeeting those I do... and in meeting some fellow Forumites whose words I see all over this forum.
Dang, Daniel, I hope you have a chance to do this again in the future!!!!!!!

Yes, the show was great- tons of nice knives there, and good conversation to be had! Very enjoyable. I handled the bigger Rader directly above, the wood finish is so nice. Michael is a real down to earth guy to talk to, as well.

awwww, shucks. Good to meet you too, Salem. Lorien took a bunch of pictures he'll post either here or in the other thread in a few days.
Great show for me and I look forward to doing it again next year.
Over-and-out.

I got so many friggin photos I'm gonna have to put together a dedicated thread.
Michael, it was great to see you dude:) I'll try to make the interlude between our visits a little shorter next time, eh?

I was speaking with someone who attended, and they had nothing but great things to say about the atmosphere of the show

This was a great show. Might have been the best show I have attended outside of Blade. Completely different atmosphere. Much more laid back and intimate. The camaraderie between the makers is always so impressive. I was just as happy seeing others make a good sale as I was making my own. I already reserved a table for next year so that really says it all.

And the Pre Funk, what can I say. Watching true artisans at work and sharing freely. Man what an experience. Hope to participate more next year.

Dan O'Mally did a tremendous job. See you all next year if not sooner.

There was so many highlites at this show to mention. However there is one that really stood out more than any other. That was getting to talk with Dan O'Malley's dad. I don't know how many had the pleasure of chatting with him. It will remain a fond memory with me for many years to come.

Thank you Dan for putting up the show
Many thanks to those behind the scenes helping things move smoothly.

Already booked my table for next year.

Yup, I'm going back too. I just stopped by and talked with Daniel this morning and he is already making plans to make next year's show even better. No rest for the wicked :-)
Nice seeing you guys again. Now on to Atlanta...
BLADE - HO !!!!!

As a collector who always goes to Solvang every other year, that's what I did this year. But next year, I will have the pleasure to meet many of you because I wouldn't miss this new show for anything. Would any of you characterize it as almost like a renewed blade show west?

Bob

Yeah, Bob, I would. I know the show is going to be high-quality (never tied in with a gunshow or at a fair-ground kind of atmosphere) but I'm not sure how big they are going to let it get. I get the feeling it is going to stay fairly small and intimate. Maybe Bill Burke will chime in here in a few days and let us know a bit more about their plans.

I don't think it will get as large as the blade show west. Dan seems to be leaning to the high quality intimate setting. At least that is what he conveyed to me and a friend at the beginning. We will see next year what he brings to the table. Well worth going to see.

We do hope to keep this show small and upscale. I thought that it was nice to be able to walk around Kirkland and to be close to the blade gallery store. However we are considering a move to someplace with larger meeting room so that the tables can all be In the same room. The only places we have found sofar are much more expensive or not nearly in the same class as the Heathman. We will see what happens. Any preferences?

I thought the venue was really cool. I know it might have sorta sucked for some exhibitors who might have felt isolated in the little rooms, but as an attendee it was cool to be able to enter the different environments instead of just one big room. The ebb and flow of people provided some great opportunities to spend time in those antechambers chatting with the exhibitors.

One thing that would help everyone out next year would be to rent some proper lighting instead of relying on the hotel's moody lightbeams.

I need to attend this one next year. I would really like to meet all of the makers I am starting to get to know here. That show looked like a blast!
