Lets See Some Pure Fighters

who the heck is Tad Lynch???

brightred,

I like that post. I'm a 36 year old knifemaker from Arkansas. I've been forging blades for the last couple of years, trying to improve. Keith, thanks for pulling that pic from the Makers area--I got a huge kick out of seeing one of my knives in this great thread.

thanks a lot tad. i didn't mean to be rude, quite the reverse! i like that fighter very much. obviously i have to spend more time on the makers's forum.

best regards,

Tad- that's an amazing piece. Yours isn't the least of the inspirations in this thread for me to improve my work. When I can do what you've done there, I'll be Made :D

Kyle I ment to comment on the other thread but I will do so here. You are amazeing and this knife is a good as it gets. Can not imagine with your skill and youth that only the sky would be the limit...

i have always admired the fighters by joe flournoy (pictures only), they seem to be well designed and executed. i am surprised that his name hasn't been mentioned here. any opinions about his work?

best regards,
hans

Here's a shot of my latest one. The photo was done on a scanner... the colors are some sort of prismatic effect that comes out of nowhere! This is a 6 1/2" fulll double edge D-2 blade, all stainless steel fittings. Takedown construction via pommel screw (allen head) toggle-tang type. Stainless steel wire wrapped over bamboo handle core. Total weight, 9.3oz

When fully disassembled there are 17 separate parts, exactly the same as the number of syllables in a haiku. Thus, I call it a Haiku knife... or "Vorpal Haiku" when fitted with a Vorpal style kydex sheath and shoulder-rig.

You can draw the knife straight down smoothly and silently by pushing the "guardlock" tab out of the way with the first finger, or you can just PUNCH the knife straight forward into "guard" position out the side of the clamshell sheath with a "snickersnack" sound like a pistol slide being racked. Keep your off-hand out of the way while doing this!

(the spots on the blade are actually water. it had just finished raining when i shot the picture)

i put the stag on it ( im a licensed guide, so i have buttloads of blacktail racks i use for knife handles) and polished the blade up.

i wisj i knew where to get some leather to make a sheath, or had somene who could make me one reasonable

yea, ive always been a damascus guy myself. damascus is like fingerprints, you could have 100 blades, all identical in shape, but none of them the same....gotta love it

i was just on scouting knife making suplies...anyone have a good source for decent damascus blades?id like to put myself together a nice skinner.

That Bagwell Hell's Belle in post 232 is really nice.

Regarding the quote....have you asked? What is reasonable? What are you looking for? There are a lot of sheath makers in their own sub forum (Sheaths and Such) down near the bottom of the General page...same page this forum is on.

well shoot.....shows ya how well i pay attention. if you look a couple of posts up at the warthog i put the stag handle on, thats what i want the sheath for.

id like a slip in , but i think its to big for that ( below is a scale picture later with something in the photo to give you an idea of how massive it is). id like to get something that can be worn both right hand/sideways i the back, and also strong side. it can be the draw closure style for retention. id like to get something that is good and heavy, untooled. but maybe hand made western looking?

i see your telephone number on the bottom there. ill try to maybe give you a call on it in the next day or two. maybe you have sme pictures of stuff youve done, or maybe some suggestions?.....id like to have something that would look good on one of of my cowboy rigs.
