Lets See Some Pure Fighters

Here is a beauty by Tad Lynch.

Keith That certainly is :)

My first finished, sold, used (on a critter) one:

19 inches overall, 13 on the blade. It's a bit heavy for an American fighter, but I was trying for something with some oomph. One of the two reasons I started making was to make dirks, finally got one done last year!

i really like this one. has a nice handle design to it. where is the balance point at?

So that one is forged and ground (mostly just some light forging to get the tiip, taper, and bevel shape going)from bar stock, and I left the tang a full 1/4 inch to help with balance. Lots of taper on the blade, of course. Balance point came out 1.25 inches forward of the handle. The owner is happy, I'm still debating with myself if it's worth the extra mass to try and bring that in on a dirk design of that size.

Here's a set of fighters Jerry made for me and of course accompany Paul Long sheaths. Many of you have seen them, however thought them appropriate here.

Kevin they are fantastic and the leather is just outstanding. Does not get any better than Fisk and Long. Thanks for posting

I waited to post this one for my opening salvo in my Gallery thread. But, I was chomping at the bit while enjoying this thread....

Deserving, indeed.

Wow Matt, I am excited and look forward to receiving and training with this beauty. Its been great working with you and I'll be back for more.

Coop - I'm glad you brought that D'Holder image over to this thread - spectacular work!

Matt - that is easily one of my all-time favourites of your knives.

hasuji - you are a lucky guy!

I am 10 years or more (if ever) away from being able to do most of what's on this thread. All I can say is I'm continuously in awe and inspired.

Here is one from a MS that is from a different time. Wayne Valachovic made this one out of desert iron wood and who knows what kind of steel. No hamon, no high polish, just a working knife.

May I ask what the guard and pin material are on the Matt Lamey knife above? Looks like perhaps copper?

Yes the guard/pin are copper, handle is Black Walnut, steel is 1095. Overall length is 15", blade is 10" x 2" at widest.

Here is one I finished this fall.
Pw with wrought furniture and macassar ebony handle
