LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

I love my very first HJ (a Rider), so I used it today to put up another solar light just for the sake of it.

You can walk though my garden without a torch at night as it lights up as you walk along, its magic. 😇

After I thought I would nip out for a afternoon coffee and some fresh air so took it with me.

If I could only have one knife this would be one at the top of the list.

Coffee good as was the apple and toffee cake.😍

Ive carried a lot of different knives today,I love em all.

Thanks for the review, Duncan! It's one of my favorites also!!

Here's a pic of an Iroquois Cutlery HJ, a hefty 3 7/8" knife; probably made by Utica Cutlery!
Goins hints that Iroquois was sold in Buffalo, NY, between 1920, and 1940! Utica-made punches mostly have a folded "lift" with a matchstrike under it, and with a smoothly polished, rounded face on the pile side!!Iroquois 1.jpgIroquois 2.jpg
With handling wear, but barely used, this is still a nice snappy knife!!

Utica made punches!!! I have never seen a patent for them!Matchstriker punches.jpg

That Iroquois Cutlery HJ is something else!! Is that a recent pick up Charlie? Just a real nice Harness Jack!
What a Line up of Utica Punches! I can only imagine the quality Harness Jacks on the other end- those Ebony Handles look gorgeous!

Love that big Colourful Harness Jack- now that's something that really stands out in a HJ Collection! I think I remember you getting that- or it was the first time I saw it- man.... talk about inspiration!

The large regular HJ, I got from Mack the Knife at Oregon this past April, Duncan! I've had that odd "Hammerhead" for many years!!

Top quality Spuds (Norfolk New Potatoes) you can just tell they will taste great.😍

I am not going to scrape them with just any knife, top quality HJ Rider it is then.

Then I noticed my Poppy rememberance cross on my gate post had faded almost white.

So I used the awl to make a hole in a plastic poppy which should last longer, put the popper back in and it fitted back together very nice.

This bits military, you don’t have to read it.

Its fitting as today I attended a small veterans meeting and was talking to one chap only a year older than me (we had all been to NI).

He was a survivor of an IRA gun attack this very day in NI 1981 (same time I was out there).

He had been in a van when they where shot at by the IRA the van was peppered with hundreds of rounds, one died he had 3 bullets in his back one was still in there.

He told me doesent usually go out on this day as it still haunts him,I listened and tried to support him.

Ive seen more than some and a lot,lot less than others. 😥

Richard Rogers made this HJ for me several years ago!! At the time, I was hoping to get all the prominent Makers to make me a nice HJ; that is, until I finally figured out I'd never be able to afford them all!!
At the time, I'd only seen one Sheepfoot HJ, so I thought it would be great to have such a knife from Richard, a Great Maker!!R Rogers 1.jpgR Rogers 2.jpg

These are amazingly gorgeous harness Jacks, both the #9 and #10, I still to this day get a nerve sensation running deep through my Stomach when I think back to when that Punch of the #9 drove itself right under my nail - I am sure I hit the notes that Shatter Crystal 😂
Wickedly Sharp yet Wickedly beautiful.

That Charlie Sir- is just insanely crisp & clean and Stunning- Wow! Was the Alvord used as a start for that beautiful Punch Charlie?

Just look at the finishing on this Knife!! 🤤
Thanks, Duncan!!
Actually the punch was a design by Tony Bose!! He understood punches very well!!
Here are two versions:Punches A.jpgPunches C.jpgPunches D.jpg
On a cattle knife by Kerry Hampton, and the fixed blade prototype that Tony made!!
They have a very flat face, and a tri-plane pile side!!
