LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

Its always a close call to say which is the favourite from Charlies SFO's, The Rider is striking because of that fantastic huge Punch that we first saw launched on Charlies 98 Texas Camp Knife - man that knife just rocked the boundaries.
Every time I sit in front of my Harness Jacks of Charlies, I find it very hard to decide which is THE best in my mind (as it is such a personal choice), if put in a terrible spot and was made to decide to pick just one to keep- I really don't know how I could decide that, thank goodness life treats me so well that I don't have to make that decision.

another adoptee....

Empire Harness Jack knife that features the "Empire Punch" I apologise for poor photography where the bad lighting makes the face side not have the small side wall- it does, the photo just does not show this.

Honestly I don't have much personal experience with any of Charlie's other specials. (I only have the one) I just enjoy them from afar with everyone posting the ones they have.
But I will say I'm more than glad he's put his thoughts & knowledge into this #86!
It's turned me on to the harness jack pattern. It has quickly become a favorite of mine that I didn't know existed šŸ˜ŽšŸ¤Æ

I wanted to keep Charlies lovely etch but at the same time I wanted to use the knife more.

I decided using it was more important so I cut a few oranges up with it,they give a lovely light patina which doesent look forced.

The differance is amazing, now I can grip and pinch the blade out with ease even with the punch in the way.

Satin blades are surely the best choice for users. šŸ˜Ž

Just mooching around outside doing a few small jobs like a new door stay for my motorbike shed.

That punch is the greatest tool to accompany a knife blade ever.šŸ˜

I knew this would be the right thread for finding some patina inspiration for my Rider!

Don’t get me wrong , it’s already had at least 2 coats of ā€˜tina by this point but i never truly let it settle, the patchy ugly ducking phase always gets removed in favour of a polish as I think it’s a knife that suits it well (it’s actually the only user I keep polished).
But as mentioned above having a patina makes everyday usage unimaginably easier.

I’m doing it!
I’ll ease it on its way with a little hot vinegar bath then buff back a little then let the rest occur ā€œnaturallyā€, I’ve found with recent past experiments that’s this is the way forward now for anything I’m up for letting a patina develop on. 🫔

My way is best, buy Spanish Oranges they are delicious.

Cut the peel away enjoy the succulent vitamin C loaded orange.

Rinse the blade, sit back and admire the patina on the blade. 😁

Well I did both Johnny!

Got my uniform dull grey foundation going (the rust barrier(ish) then as you recommended sliced some citrus fruits.
Now all I had to hand were lemons, sooo… not as relaxing as you made out but šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
