Lets see those Scandi grind knives.

Imageshack is the way to go:thumbup:

By the way, sweet collection! Some of those I haven't seen before. You've been holding out on me:grumpy:

Marcelo, when are you working next? I may need to rob you;)

Tony,
Thanks my brother. The small wooden handled model between the Koster and the Woodlore is from Sweden made by Johan Staff got it through Nordic Bushcraft a few years ago. The two wooden handled models on the last pic are from England. Top one is from Roger Harrington of Bison Bushcraft made for Woodland Survival Crafts. Lower knife is from Bearclaw Bushcraft.
The bottom knife on the page is made by Poul Strand and is laminated/forged from Denmark. He mostly makes fancy type knives, but at a show he was carving slivers off of the tang of another blade he had. Couldn't resist. All in all very useful and used.
Andy and Big Dan, thanks for the compliment. I'll hopefully add a Fiddleback soon.

Not all Scandi's are scandinavian, but these are:

Top to bottom:
Veikko Hakkarainen Kullervo
Kainuun Puukko T120 Tommi Guard (designed/made by Veijo Käpylä)
Helle Godbit
Reino Kamppila, variant of an Ahti Vaara with a Lauri PT blade, made for Kellam
Lapin Puukko Nylkypuukko
Lapin Puukko Hunter
On the sides:
A Brusletto combo I've had forever.

And these scandi's aren't scandinavian:

Top to bottom:

Blind Horse Knives Pathfinder
Blind Horse Knives Boattail Scandi
Adventure Sworn Bushcrafter
Koster Bushcrafter
Bushcraft Northwest BCNW-O1

It may be evident by the photos, but the Lapin Puukko and the Helle get the most use. The BHK and the Adventure Sworn are becoming favorites fast, though.

How do you like your Kainun? I am thinking about getting a couple of them.

Best,

Those are made by Adventure Sworn aka Cody. He is a very talented young maker:thumbup:

I believe Skog did do a few if not all of those handles:thumbup:

I thought that might be his work, but I am not familiar with his mark.

I like that one with Micarta handle.

Marion, I have used the heck out of those two. Don't judge their finish as pristine, I recently refinished the blades as the BCNW had a patina, but I experimented with sandpaper and polished the blade. The Entrek is also 01 steel and had a proclivity to rust like crazy, so I gave it a hand rubbed finish with WD 40. The BCNW handle is indeed comfortable and I have large hands, the Entrek has a flatter handle and though okay for me may be too thin for others. They are essentially the same blade.

How does handles size on the BCNW compare to the larger 'Mora' barrel handles?

And how does the Bamboo age?

Marcelo,
You are a funny man!! I got Image Shack as I couldn't resize on Photobucket. I read a tutorial that recommends not using free services as the resizing is limited.

Yeah, that can be a deal, I do all my image work in a separate program, that came with Linux, it is pretty full featured. If you don't mind the wait, I would crop and size photos for you, from time to time, just takes me a couple minutes. Or, you can get a shareware program and do it yourself, and I could help you, it is not complex.

Good Stuff!

Best,
Marion

Marion

I don't know what a larger Mora Barrel handle is like but for me there is no comparison in the strong feel of the BCNW for carving and the couple of Mora blades I have.

The Bamboo is stabilized so it's very tough and not likely to age at all.

Only two are AdventureSworn's. Two are also Bernie Garland's. The small one is a HillBill. All handles and sheath are done by me, I only buy blanks.

It's really quite excellent. Fit and finish is perfect, the steel appears to be, based on amateur testing, well-tempered. The balance is a bit hilt-heavy for me. I have not used it as much as the Lapin Puukko; it seems more suited to carving than game.

If you're really into puukkos, and trying to have the best of the twelve different styles, Käpylä certainly would be at the top of his class for the KP knives.

Bro, you soooo need a knifemaker's classification and start selling your stuff. It is top notch! Get someone else to make the blades and you do the rest. Excellent workmanship and detail.

Not too far off from it, hope to do my own blades soon as well. Workshop space is the current problem haha. In due time...but when I get it straight to make and sell as a real maker I will definitely get the makers account here.;)

Do you have another image of the one on the right, second from the bottom?

From what can see, that is a very elegant example of your work.

What are the twelve styles? I have not heard of this....

Cool, sorry about that.

Very nice work on the handles as always:thumbup:
