Does that ceramic stone put a mirror edge on the blade? I always assumed that ceramic stones were a much higher grit?
Yes it produces a very very smooth mirror edge. Strop afterwards to make it super shiny and sharp!

I have kind of gotten into sharpening knives as a hobby.
Here is what I use only that's a leather strop on the Kalamazoo right now.
I usually start with 220 grit if the knife is extremely dull. I get a lot of knives that way.
I'll go to 400 and 600 and finish it off with green rouge on the leather strop shown in the first picture below.
I can take ten very dull knives and have them shaving sharp in 30 to 40 minutes.

I have a little DMT for touching up knives when I'm at my desk.
These have served me well for 30 years.

Here are a few more of my sharpeners. Left to right. Dmt medium and fine, fine jewel stick, a stone my grandpa used (any info on what it is or grit etc would be appreciated) 600 grit Smith's diamond, and a Smith's medium Arkansas.
