Wish List:

A large single room log cabin in the woods, on top of a 10,000 foot high mountain, 200 miles from anyone, with a river at the base of the mountain and a massive lake halfway up the mountain. Solar panels everywhere on the mountain top for power, a huge shipping container filled with deep cycle batteries for storage, a 5 x 10,000 liter diesel tanks, connected to a massive 12 cylinder diesel gennie. 50 large wind turbines mounted on the mountain top too. Running from the top of the mountain down to the river and the lake would be a loggers skyline, with a massive geared winch, motor powered by the diesel gennie, with a series of buckets attached to the cable. The buckets would dip into the river, fill and then travel up to the top of the mountain, where each one would be drained into a holding tank, and pumped up to a massive water tower. In addition, i would have a rain catcher and dew catcher farm as backup. A massive garden, a hen house, and a huge field for goats, pigs, and horses to graze. Buncha dogs and cats too, the dogs would be the African Wild Dogs, highly trained for security. A huge concrete root cellar and storage area would be under the log cabin, for dry goods, frozen goods, fresh goods, canned goods supplies. A huge smokehouse with a big firewood storage area. All over the mountain would be large fire sprinklers, discretely placed every 100 feet in a grid pattern, hooked up to a huge fire pump pumping water outta the lake. ATV trails would circle the mountain, and there would be little outposts to rest and have coffee lunch in. An underground gold and silver mine for a hobby. A second log cabin set up camp style complete with lump charcoal grill and bunks for visiting knife nuts. All the wood you wanted for chop offs.

A dirt road would run up the mountain, and at the base of the mountain the entrance would be blocked off by a massive concrete and steel gate 10 feet thick, and a moat ramp. The 10' thick concrete and steel girder fence would run all around the base of the mountain, sunk in 20 feet and extending 40' high, topped sharpened & honed pike poles, laced with electrified razor wire and remote sentry 50,000 round swiveling auto shoot mini guns every 10 feet. The forest around the fence would be scaled back 50 feet on each side and mined every foot. Massive steel girder anti tank/vehicle Caltrops chained together with 3/4" grade 80 chain at the edges of the minefields. Tilt/pan armoured cameras with infared and nightvision capability would be mounted on poles every 20 feet. No one is gonna disturb me. :p

for traveling around the forest and up/down the access road, i would have a highly modified Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GRIZZLY vehicle, and for winter travel a tracked UNIMOG with a snowblower attachment.

forgot to add. I would build 10 massive trebuchets and launch boulders the size of trucks into the valleys below.

yea thats my wish list.

.... a massive lake halfway up the mountain.:D

Everything seems doable except the lake 'halfway up the mountain' part.... Maybe Santa will bring you all that but put the lake on top of the mountain :p

Riggins, Idaho-the farm road just before the ranger station, hand a right and drive about 20 miles. That's where you want to be Bushman. No shit, as you described.

A seem on my cheap school backpack just ripped out...Apparently 20 pounds of textbooks didn't agree with it.

I've been eyeing maxpedition packs for a while anyway...

Soon'ish I'm going to be getting the Rat Pack forum knife, which is pretty much going to look like this, except with a black blade.

Joben I so highly recommend Mountainsmith, and they cost less than Maxped. If you're looking for a goodschool and day/camping pack the Approach is what you are looking for.

Some of these are inevitable, others...

I have been on a Maxpedition kick lately, thankfully I have traded for most of it. I have standing trade offers from local gear shops when their Max stuff comes in, already traded for some credit. Gonna head out this coming weekend when "my Max gear" comes in ;).

Gun wish list Ruger SP101 .357; .410 bolt action Mossberg; 12 ga Remington 870 Express (Christmas is coming, or so I've been told ;)); .308 Remington 700 CDL; .223 Ruger 77 synthetic stock; Ruger Vaquero unsure of the caliber; Kahr P40 and last but not least, a Marlin Guide Gun lever action in .4570. Whew! I'll probably still only shoot my single shot .22 bolt action store brand junker, and my .20 Benjamin Sheridan airgun.

Knife wise, I am always on the lookout for trade knives, all manner of folders and fixed. The only ones I am looking to buy are Strider CC models, desert ironwood Sebenzas, an Umnumzaan. Woodsy knives I want to get are a Kephart from Ray Laconico, and a Hudson Bay camp knife from a maker I haven't determined yet.

With all of these expensive packs, knives and guns, I still haven't gone farther than Walmart/flea market gear for tents, sleeping bags etc.

My biggest outdoors gear wish list would have to include the next truck I am going to get. I want to get either a 2wd 4dr cab Silverado, or one of the new 4wd 4dr Tacomas.

Realistically, what I really wish for is more time to enjoy the outdoors. I would love to be able to split for a month of canoeing and hiking up north, or maybe out west. I'm pretty well set for gear - I just need the opportunity to use it!

But, since we're talking about Stuff I Want, here goes:

An Off the Map Skog Kniven. Gorgeous traditional design, with curves in all the right places. Curly maple handles would be a nice touch.

A Frontier Bowie from North River Custom Knives, with a nice period sheath.

One of Dan Koster's Nessies. I have had my eye on these for a long time. Great interpretation of the design.

A Bushknife from Rick (Wildertools), with a wrapped handle and plenty of forge markings on the blade.

A JK Kephart, with walnut handles and a fire pouch built into a drop sheath.

Oh, and a kick-ass 72" belt grinder with contact wheel and platen, heat treat oven, and a few blocks of birds eye maple, desert ironwood, and bog oak!

All the best,

- Mike

I have an obscenely good assortment of toys right now, there's not much at all on my wish list.

I already received one version of the Fiddleback Hunter, so now I think the only thing on my drool list is the next version with some thicker handles for my big paws! Here's the first: (god this design kicks ass)

Possible (maybe) future attainables on the wish list:
Another NWA knife - undecided on model. Safari SKinner, Woodsman, or Scout.
A Jensen Elite Blades-style WSK or other style knife made by Tim Horan, maybe one like this:
JEBEST-7.jpg

I once saw a JEB-style WSK that TIm made, and I really liked it.

A bolt action, shorter barrel rifle with open sights. Maybe like this savage, sans glass:

The Blaser posted earlier is nice, too.
