Let's see your Camillus knives!

Like carrying a role of quarters:eek:  .Nice display it came with too, they really went all out on that one. That metal handled Wadsworth reminds me of another company from the Hudson Valley that manufactured a similar knife in the forties or fifties I believe. Darned if I can remember the name though. Someting like "magnetic " or "electric" in the name (not Electric Cutlery Co though).

Here's one more, figured I'd throw a fixed blade into the mix:

I like that series Eric! Here is the intro ad for your knife, 8 3/4" #1012 Great Smoky from the 1973 catalog:

We've shown quite a few of the old Camillus/Kastor marks in the past few days, but I still have some more up my sleeve. Here is one which Goins dates as used from 1924-1940. Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City.

This knife itself isn't that spectacular, at least compared to the cell examples out there, but this mark was used on the knife Camillus introduced in 1927, the first all stainless scout knife.

And I thought the orange Delrin Schrades were bright! Nice!

I'll have to look back at my catalogs and see if I can figure out when the Buckmasters began appearing. I know they used the name on the Sharpfinger they did a while back. You have any idea El Rey De Scorp?

Michael

Bill- love that buckmaster its beautiful. And I've been trying to find a streamline like yours michael for a long time now hopefully someday.-Joel

Some real nice examples, everyone....

A regular sized hunter:

An old school PSK, dated 3-1967 on pommel. My dad carried it and used it as part of his EOD kit. He gave it to me for safe keeping some years back. I did a little mod on the sheath. (Don't worry, Paul, your customer base is safe ;) )

And a little new school. This one is dated 1984:

And here is another one of my favorites. They gave this one to my dad when he retired from the USAF in 1977.

Do you know why the Crockett knife has that hole? It came with a lucky rabbit foot attached! Camillis billed this knife as "Davy Crockett's Own Frontier Knife"! (Printed on the back of the handle with a picture of a log fort). In the mid 1950's, both Camillus and Imperial were licensed by Disney to make knives with Crockett and Boone on them as this printing on a 1955 Imperial envelope shows.

Lacking a working scanner at the moment, I can't post the picture of the original store sales card art, but I'll transcribe it for you.

Another older Camillus trademarked tangstamp is "Mumbly Peg". I've written a bit about it and the game in the past, but since it is picture heavy and I could not locate the original post, I'll place it in it's own thread for re-posting here with a few updated pics.

Michael

Very cool info, Mike! Apparently, I wasn't that lucky..(no rabbit's foot) :(

Glenn

Some very cool stuff on display here. Thanks to all of you for sharing.

I've posted this one before, but it seems to fit here...a STA-SHARP, made for Sears.....

You know Michael, since you asked about the Buckmasters knives, I've done some searching...but no joy. :(

I'll bet CAMCO would remember.

Bill

I see them in the catalogs circa 2000 forward, but my Camillus catalog inventory is sparse. Later years show them, but they are generally "Irish Apex" looking knives, except for the CGP152. Somewhere in my mind where the light don't shine, I seem to remember them being made (name being used) by another company before Camillus.

Michael

PS- Bill, guys, most of the knives I am posting have been shown here or elsewhere previously. It doesn't matter. New members drop in every day and it would take some serious archive mining skills to re-find them all.

Edit: PS, PS- Sta-Sharp...one of the brand names invented for Dunlap, Sears buyer circa 1927-40. My 1939 Sears cutlery training guide gives the number for that pattern as 9458 ARISTOCRAT (with smooth "ebonoid handle"). Sta-Sharp was their top of the line knives, Dunlap middle, and Kwik Kut the economy line.

Glenn,
Isn't that Camillus Host knife, very similar to the Imperial Knife that Phil (IIRC) posted a year or two ago? I think the Imperial was called a Bartender's knife or something like that.

I was wondering if perhaps one of the companies made both knives?

I think his knife was a Camillus as well (But I could be wrong). I started looking for one after seeing his...

Glenn

I believe this is the Buckmaster(S) that Camillus was producing for...

http://www.buckmasters.com/bmstore/c-4-knife-shop.aspx

...but, you probably knew that (:o ) and the Buckmaster is a cool knife, and I've been wrong many times (just ask around my house  :o ).

Anywho...
I felt like this knife, along with the packaging, deserved a little better shot, so I'm posting this picture...

...a run of 500 for A. G. Russell, IIRC. A real nice little knife.

NEXT!!...

Here's a nice old ebony jack, from a great Ebay seller; 4-line stamp on the small blade, and crossed swords on the big one!

This ones my old scout knife which dates it to around '74-'76 or thereabouts I think. Its an Adventurer BSA #8. I also carried a utility scout knife that I did all the rough stuff with 'cause I liked this one too much to beat on it.(Although I did manage to stab myself in the hand during my novice woodcarving days):D :D
