That's a stunner, Ratbert  Beautiful!

Thanks...I am very pleased with it.

Yours in American Chestnut is pretty sweet as well! Makes a nice matched set with the Viper.

Oddly enough, I don't have any wood handled pocket knives. After seeing how nice those are, I may need to remedy that!

Am I right in thinking that this pattern is rather similar in appearance to the ever popular sodbuster style pattern?

maybe someone can compare the two handle shapes that have both knives. I agree, and would imagine we'll find them to be very similar. Love the sodbuster, especially the bullnose, so it makes sense why I am so drawn to this pattern!

The handle shapes are the same. The the #74 is not as thick. It feels really good in hand, it actually surprised me how great it feels in hand. In think the main difference is the bullnose is a straight up work knife, the Mustang is is drop dead gorgeous.

I like em. I ordered a burnt orange bone. Should be delivered on thursday. Really like the elk! Keep the pics coming. Any closed shots?

The knife gods smile upon me again.
Ive lassooed a chestnut.
Im wondering about the primitive bone.Available only to the Illuminati ?

I haven't heard anything about Primitive Bone (maybe something will turn up at the rendezvous).

However, there is a dealer that has posted up a few end of run Mustang 'parts knives' that are sporting Orange Delrin handles and have slight cosmetic blems. Basically, an EDC 'workhorse' version of the Mustang.

I've ordered one as a true user because I know the Elk I have on order will be babied once I have it in hand.
Eh, what can I say... ¯\_(Ô.ô)_/¯

Edc s woith orange delrin.
But primitive bone....us mere mortals are mocked.

Aaaaaaand now I'm in for a second one. I was hoping for a smooth handle option other than chestnut, ideally a synthetic.

Delrin, particularly in orange (and hopefully with the acorn shield), seems like a great match for this pattern.

Finally, A GEC I can have in my wet pocket, all day, every day!

Im pretty happy I didn't get a super dark stained handle. I wanted to actually see the orange color.

Here it is with a sodbuster jr., and a Northwoods Madison Barlow, which I think is quite similar in shape, just a bit larger.

Size comparison with a 73 and a 77

I feel that I was very lucky to get the Grain and Color that I preferred without being able to choose . Yes , I would rather have been able to reserve the Elk , but I still like the Chestnut !!!!

I feel the same way. These came out nice. Kind of takes the sting out of not getting an elk.
Here's a slightly better picture of mine than posted above. I dig the different shades, complete with "nail hole."

Old Engineer and Nature Boy...the chestnut wood looks very nice.
fortunate to get an Elk Mustang. One thing on the Mustangs...they got the pins fairly flush, haven't seen too many with them sunken
