My fathers old hunting knife (skinned my first deer), and my new hunting knife (skin my next deer?). Hopefully my boys will be into hunting and I pass these down to them (still too young to tell oldest is 2), and hopefully my old man is still around to see it.

Still don't know what the name/use of this blade shape is, or how old the knife is. [But Dixon goes back only to 1980, and they started making sheath knives later than that (just reread ttlt).]

Thanks screened porch ! Call that a bowtie keeper strap. In use ya can just pop one side loose to draw the knife, or not use it at all as pictured too. Thanks Jack Black ! Yep always neck deep in alligators and paddling like a big dog around Christmas time!
