Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Anyone know what I have here? Just pulled it out of my shamefully neglected and overfilled 'Virtual Table'/Box  I imagine it's a tourist piece, but seems reasonably well-made, both edges have been sharpened, hollow-ground from a central spine, horn handle. Blade is 5 1/2". Just interested in the pattern, and where it originates, if anyone recognises it

I'd guess African, but even if I'm right, Africa's a big place. The sheath is wood?

Picked up one of the new Mora Classics. New Classic...lol. Talk about an oxymoron. This one's a No. 2.

Nice Christian :) Reminds me of the Brusletto Tollekniv I gave away in my very first giveaway, to celebrate my 1000th post, in September 2012. My 4 page article on the same knife, a decade earlier, was the push to popularity of 'Scandi' knives in the UK :)

It sure is Jer, and there seems to be a huge variation even within patterns, with almost no two knives being the same  The sheath IS wood. Thanks for your help mate

Nice Christian :)

Thanks Jack. I've wanted a No. 2 for a while. I just couldn't get past the red paint. I didn't need it, it's not like this knife will supplant my puukkos, but it was inexpensive enough and scratched the new knife "itch."

The red stain is an improvement over the paint, but it's obvious Mora uses lumber for their handles instead of more expensive, highly figured birch.

Interesting serrations just at the distal end of the Marble's. Will they actually saw or cut?

Zieg
They'll actually cut a shallow notch, I got an update on some use I'm getting ready to post. I used the teeth to cut a couple notches in a stick to make a handle to remove a hot pot from a fire. I basically made a small fire to simultaneously test the knife and the Stanley cup set  pics inbound in next post ;)

Enjoying the fruits of my "labor" :D
I like the Marbles although I did rebevel the edge. I don't know the exact angles as I did it by hand to suit myself, it definitely made an improvement on its ability to cut finer shavings. The odd little teeth on the swedge actually came in handy to make notches for my pot handle extension. Overall I think it is a great camp/woods knife if you like larger fixed blades. Definitely worth its $35-40 price range imho

That looks pretty good my friend  I've just had a drink of water out of one of my green cups! :D I don't take them out with me, but found a place in the bathroom for one of them :D

Jack Black Jack Black
This was the first trial run I've done with the Stanley set up, I got it and a Stanley 2 quart pot and bowls set for Christmas. As I'm usually solo I may take one of the cups out :thumbsup:

I'm sure they'll serve you well :) I have a stainless steel cup that fits on the bottom of the Stanley pot, with folding handles, they're fairly easy to find. I have various water bottles which will fit inside, and the kit fits in a Cordura pouch. I replaced the plastic tab on the lid with a split-ring, as I figured it'd eventually melt. I've had mine about 3 years now, and it's stood up well :)

I just finished this little bugger, and really surprised the heck out of myself.

It's my best work so far, and somehow I pulled this off freehand with no jig or anything o_O

Next comes a decision on how I'll carry it, then a sheath for it.

I have two smaller Dawson knives and I really prefer to carry them in a front pocket sheath. They came with kydex sheaths, but I would prefer a leather front pocket sheath with external clip. That would be my way to go if that were my knife.

That was the choice for now, but around the house only.
Nobody would know and I'm not getting into trouble, but pocket carry technically isn't legal here as it would be concealed so I just have to remember before I go anywhere.
