Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

How'd this thread end up on page 8?!

Interesting mod from WW2, thought I'd show it today

As basic as it gets.........a reproduction of a small knife from a 10th century Viking-Rus settlement, made at the Ostvytsya historical and cultural project in Rivne, Ukraine.
2mm thick carbon steel blade with bog oak handle and copper fittings, 6" overall.

That's really cool  I'm guessing this knife I had made by Jorgencraft is based upon the same historic find

Thanks for that name I'd not heard before  Like the knife above, it was actually made by Jacek Robotka (Jorgencraft)

It pains me to see this thread on Page 5!

I started from post #1, and looked at each and every post. I wish I could have seen the pics that have broken links, but such is life.

I want to add some pics, but be forewarned, a photographer I am not. I'll start with knives I purchased, and then add knives that I have inherited.

I'll start with my Gerber Mk II. I purchased it new at the PX on Camp Lejeune around 86. It has been through the wringer, as only an Infantry Marine can do, without regard for its future.

Next up is my last replacement Kabar, given to me by my Machine Gun Team before transferring out of 1/8. It replaced my well used Kabar, that was traded for a case of wine while in Sardinia, and shared with my squad.

Next is a Bark River Bravo One. It got its patina by slicing a prime rib I did for Christmas dinner a while back.

IMG_0909 r.jpg

Next is a Murphy. I bought it on a whim, as I wanted to try the pattern.

IMG_0905 r.jpg

IMG_0906 r.jpg

Next is a bushcrafter from Mark Wohlwend. It took...a while to get it, and it a decent user.

Next up is my 5" Randall Mod 5.

Next up is my USAF Survival knife given to me by my Dad many years ago. It was made in my birth year according to the stamp on the pommel.

IMG_0907 r.jpg

Now, for the knives that were left to me.

First, these were my Papaw's. He is the man responsible for my knife fascination, and I have posted elsewhere here about some of his folders given to me.

This is a Wildcat brand, but I know nothing else about it.

Next is a Schmidt & Ziegler. Again, I know nothing about it.

And finally, knives left to me after my Dad died in April. Eff Cancer and Dementia.

Unfortunately, these were stored in their sheath, and we know what happens there.

First is his Kabar he used on his first Whitetail, several years ago.

Next is a Gerber. This was more the style of knives he liked.

Next up is one that is a little hard to look at.

There are more that he had that I am still going through. Mostly knives made by Carolyn Tinker, but there are a few others. He, at one time, had several Randalls, but we think he sold, or traded them, because he wasn't happy with the last one he received. Maybe we'll find he stashed them away, maybe not.

Once i get through the others, I'll post them here as well.
