Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

OK then Guys & Gals,

Howz about my custom Stek double edged fighter with 7.5 inch basket weave Damascus blade that is razor sharp.. The guard and pommel are also Damascus. The handle is round stock (he, he, haw, :D )Oosik and is cured to a gorgeous Maple brown color that was found in the perma frost of Alaska. The spacers are black buffalo horn, jade, red jet and nickle silver.

This one is super hot! Makes one wish for a time machine!

I dug this thing out of "the vault" for some pictures today. It is my only 100% custom knife and it seems to fit nicely in the traditional category.

It is a knife that my Mom actually had made for me a long time ago (hence the letters "LFM").

It was made by a distant relative and hand engraved by Bob Valade.

The handle is a combination of buffalo horn, turquoise, and ivory. The steel is probably from the 440 series.

Don, that is a great looking knife!! Im loving that Burl my friend!

I love Bowies, I dont care what people say that its not the proper term...because a bowie knife is this, and its that, to me its a Bowie!! simple big bugger of a knife that could do all the things a small knife cant :D
I have been looking for a tidy one of these for quite some time, here is my Western, I love this knife, and its MINT, The sheath has never been used, and still have the box, and papers..yeah!

Thanks Duncan,As always, your knives are spectacular.Quick personal story.I have a good customer in Canada. He is a RCMP as is his wife.Anyway,he bought one of those Westerns like you posted and wanted me to customize it with stag.I dawdled and fooled around for a couple of months and just could never bring myself to alter that beautiful knife. He actually tried to give it to me,but i ended up talking him into leaving it as is and using it or putting it away.Thats the first and only time ive ever refused a job in such a manner.I just love those old Westerns.

Here is one Bowie I truly love that is a hand made from mid-late 19th century. The only mark on her is an "X" on the tang. The sheath is not the original and was made by a rancher in Oklahoma in the late 1930's or early 40's..

Anthony, I apologize for bringing this knife back up again...I really think that people should take a good long look at that blade, man...this is such a beautiful, stunning, fantastic knife...and I can just hear you telling me again about this knife.

Very cool story Don, RCMP?....(sorry, New Zealander here)..is that Royal Canadian Mounted Police?, I just couldn't be one of them, as the horse couldn't bear the weight of the added cutlery :D.
I especially like the smaller stag handled westerns, they are very nice little knives....I like the fact you couldnt bring yourself to change the knife...that is something there mate...well done, and thank you for sharing.

Does this count? Sabre "Original Bowie Knife" circa maybe 1968 with a new walnut handle circa maybe 1980. Store-bought sheath circa maybe 1970.

Good to see this thread back up.
I posted my "According to Bagwell" modded W49 elsewhere, but thought it'd fit in here too.

Having seen so many truly awesome "cowbie bowies" in this thread I am having a thought. I was thinking of taking a dremel to the walnut handle and giving it a more ergonomic profile...palmswell and all that. Now I have to think that what I should do is get some stag scales, a hilt and restore this thing. Even though it came with a hilt and a very cheap molded plastic stag handle...not nice resin stag, molded plastic stag/jigged bone, I think I could dress it up. I'd make it look like the knife in post 690 from Campbellclanman. This thread has really inspired me I must say.

The scales are very thick Stag on the Solingen Olsen, not only the knives inspire me here...its the people who own them as well....there are some great people here in Traditionals.!

Instead of a dremel (power tools allow me to make my mistakes much faster) I'd opt for a rasp, double cut file, single cut file and sandpaper.
In that order.

It'll be fun.
:D
