Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Going to try and re-shoot some of my fixed blades...previously posted pics were old/low quality and I have my camera's idiosyncrasies figured out now (I think).

Marbles USA leather.

A work in progress!

BTW, what was the steel in these? 52-100?

Very nice indeed SAK Guy, look forward to seeing the rest :)

Here's a pic of the anonymous old butcher knife I picked up on my travels recently.

I picked this Jimmy Lile number 7 up recently from a buddy who bought it from Lile in 1978 at the Rochester gun show. Never carried or sharpened.

Best regards

Robin

WOW! I bet that old knife has fed a few folks in it's time!!!!

Thank you buddy! I bought 2 of these after the fire to replace some Western and Schrade Walden hunting knives...the little one was a gift from my daughter! :)

For sure! I think it would have been a Quest-ender if it didn't lack provenance.

Aw, that's really special :)

A few months back while I was at work a meth head kicked my back door and made off with the bulk of my collection of my favorite pattern fixed blade knife, the Schrade Walden/Schrade 165OT and it;'s kin. Tonight I just landed a replacement 165OT fishing in the bay. This is the first 165 bought since the Great Schrade Robbery. And, with the help of a forum friend Protourist. Of all the pictures shown, the only one blurry was the one showing the serial number darnit.

Now some of us know that serializing ended somewhere after 20,000. So the seller is reading the stamping wrong. Upside down? That is my guess. So 60000 is actually 00009? The knife, gift box and sheath all fit that 1966 production. Only 1,237 were shipped that first year as they did not appear in catalogs until 1967.

Thanks for your help tonight Mack!

I wish I could be there when you open that box.:)

Indeed it was! It appears to be in factory fresh condition, and if the serial is as I suspect, it was a salesman's sample from the first production, likely hand built by the Buley brothers, Schrade Walden's sample makers. It doesn't make up for the theft by a long shot, but it does take some of the sting out of it.

lol - love the collection duty - I actually really like the Bowie!
I am Rapt that you take so much pride in showing us your Dads actual production knives ( if I remember the story correctly ) and rightly so too - they are great looking knives!

Knice score on the early Schrade Mack, looks like your off to a new collection Codger, they say that the hunt is what makes collecting fun, to some point yes it does but if I lost what you did I don't know if I could rebuild, I wish you lots of luck in filling in the missing knives.

Beautiful example of a beautiful knife: congratulations.

Congrats!
I am thrilled for you.

Wow what a sweet knife!

Thanks guys. It is a nice feeling to fill a hole in the collection with what I hope is a very early example in complete and excellent condition. If it is what I suspect, it is a 48 year old hunk of 1095 steel that, contrary to modern wisdom, has not rusted away to dust.

If nothing else, this addition has helped pull me out of a funk and inspired me to further continue my research on the pattern. That is worth quite a bit I think.

I want to be clear on this. That was all Codger's doing. I did nothing but watch and root for the winner.
I am now on the hunt for serial numbers 1 though 8 though.

Congratulations on that one! I can't begin to imagine what it felt like to have many years of collecting destroyed the way it was. I'm glad that this renews you somewhat.

The support and encouragement of a good friend is worth more than the knife, I assure you. Besides, it was fun to share the excitement of the chase down to the final seconds with someone besides Jake. He's excellent at what he does, but doesn't really get the whole knife collecting bit! ;)

Sweet collection of classic Marble's you have there. I'd love to find a Woodcraft in that condition.

Congrats, Codger! What a great find!
