Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Just have to say how much I love this thread. Fantastic contributions lately, gang! Keep 'em coming!

Wow!!! Jack!, cool piece of history....!!!! I have one from the German side that was a bring back in '45...

Good idea, Jack. I should do that.... I just realized recently that I still had the old images saved (of these and others) - they might make for a good thread. Once I get my good camera fixed, I'd really like to get some better photos of the whole set - that would be even better... stay tuned....

Cheers,

Derek...

A close friend of my Dad brought it back and I ended up with it. Really hastily made...lots of grind marks and hafted with very plain wood...probably made very late in the war IMO.

Thanks. Wow, that sounds interesting

When I was a kid, my paternal grandparents lived in a tiny old house. They had almost nothing in the way of ornaments, but lots of interesting old stuff just knocking about. The living room was so small that the table was just in a corner, but underneath it, among other things, were a couple of WW1 bayonets my great grandfather brought home, one British, the other French. They were just played with like toys. When my dad was a kid, he and my uncle were re-enacting the final sword fight from Robin Hood, and my dad took a chunk out of uncle's thumb! A lot of people seemed to have this kind of stuff just lying around back then.

I'll look forward to that Derek, sure it'll be a great thread

That's really nice, great to see it

With the one I got the other day, I did wonder if someone carried it as a weapon, or if they bought it/had it made/made it to bring back as a souvenir. As always, you wish these things could talk! :)

My Case 334 in a Savage custom sheath. My 35 year old hatchet is there too.

I lost my orig 334 in the fire along with a cherry Camillus US Navy Mk II.

Are you telling me that there are those who don't have any axes, bowies, khukuris, and swords? The horror!

Wierdos! :D

Actually there was a khukuri under the table with the bayonets too! :D It was mine, my uncle gave it to me as a kid. I only got to carry it a couple of times while playing. When he died, one of my relatives stole it :( My mother used to have a photo of me proudly holding up the Khuk, I can't have been older than about 7. I'd even settle for the photo now.

My grandad had an unexploded bomb down the cellar for years until my granny gave it to the scrap-man! :D
