Let's see your Scout/Camp knives

This Keen Kutter arrived moments ago. Like my other one with the extra long awl/spike, it's not your typical scout configuration. The heavy duty file/screwdriver blade sits on a dedicated backspring, as does the long pull spear. The can opener and cap lifter/screwdriver/Prestolite key share a backspring. Not overly heavy, despite the 3 backsprings and heavy file blade.

Also note the salesman's numbers on the back of the spear.
Beautiful old Keen Kutter. Simmons called it an automobile knife.

Recently added this old Challenge Cutlery scout knife to the collection.
Faint bit of blade etch looks like it may have said stainless.

Sorry everyone, I just realized that I've made my first post and haven't even introduced myself. I joined Blade Forums last year, but hadn't found this thread until the other day. My name is Myron and I collect SAKs, 4-blade traditional scouts, and 6-blade humpbacked sportmessers primarily. Of course there's a little of this and that that sneaks in as well.

Here are a few of my semaphore scouts. I would love a Keen Kutter semaphore, so if anyone has one that is surplus to requirements, please don't hesitate to get in touch. :)

Thanks!

Good grief but that is a gorgeous knife! I collect semaphore shield scouts and I've never run across this Keen Kutter before.

I see from your signature that you're looking for a good Swiss Soldier knife. Any particular year? Maybe we could work a trade.... :)

Sure thing, I’ll trade you four Swiss Army knives purchased from the store today for those scout knives you just posted🤣🤣🤣 that way you have something really modern and you don’t have to rely on those old antiques that could possibly fail you in your time of need.

Welcome to the forum and you have some great looking examples in your collection right there. Makes me a little bit jealous.

Haha, thanks Jim!

And speaking of scout pattern knives in general, Swiss Soldiers are a thing for me too...

Model 2008's:

Model 1961's:

And I have all the Model 1951's too, but no easy pics.

Can’t go wrong with a good SAK. Carried one in some form or another most of my life. Been meaning to grab one of those 08 soldier models. Are they still in production?

Yep! The Model 2008 is still totally a thing. I anticipate they'll change it up in the not too distant future, but for now it is still the king. From a collector standpoint, there are only two years that are rare and hard to find, 2008 and 2012. The rest are easy and plentiful.

If you want one to carry and use, I'd just wait til Victorinox has a free shipping deal, which they do all the time, and then buy one directly from them. :)
