Lets see some pics of your hair splitting knives. I don't mean arm hair shaving, I mean hair whittling.

My NMFBM and Sarsquatch are my two sharpest as of now. Both were ground to death, thinned and then stropped by hand on black/green/pink compoound and then bare leather. The edges don't look quite as mirror as an edge pro perfect edge, but there's nothing they won't cut.

I know Ankerson will be posting, hopefully horndog too. All you sharpening junkies, post em up!

Both knives have claimed my blood.

BTW, yes I know I need to clean my gun room, and don't mind the zebra hanging thing.. I don't decorate.

Your mirror shine blades always impress me Shankerson. What do you use again?

I like this thread :D

Hope rats count. This one has an even thinner edge now (New handle wrap too) but this old picture is all I have. Will whittle hairs, pop arm airs without touching the skin, push cut circles in receipt paper etc. Cuts stuff pretty well too ;)

My FBM Satin Combat ....on the flat I took it down to a zero convex .... left a bit more meat on the belly and towards the tip for chopping/strength ....

Re-profiled Jackhammer .... sharpened the swedge as well ....

Fully convexed my NMFBM ...

Polished convexed and thinned down a SJTAC Variant and did the clip to a razor edge as well ....

the SJTAC is able to shave one of my hairs

although I don't polish the edges .... I find a toothy edge cuts better ....

Those are looking awesome. :D

Wow that's just beautiful.

My Busse knives are dull, I sharpened knives before, but all of them were field sharpened, so while they went from blunt to be able to cut something, and they went from knife looking to modern art looking. But I think even that adge is enough on my ASH-1 to be an effective chopper, but I hear that the CG versions had some nice edges on them.

My sharpest aren't in the Busse family... so I'll keep to myself. ><

I've only got the SAR 8, and while it is quite sharp the edge geometry is a bit thick to be amongst my sharpest for now.

The sharpest knife I own is a NMSFNO that was sent to garth and convexed. Sorry for no pics one day maybe I'll figure out how to post them. :(

them scary sharp edges is mighty fine but, what good are they ? cut paper? surgery ? i need a working edge. i'm construction electrician and i cut cardboard, plastic, strip wire..... shaving sharp is good enuff for MY world. :D

They cut very well, and hold up to chopping too.

Well, here's my BS sharpened this morning:

I did it before my coffee and screwed up the tip a little.

Hrm. Got the SAR 8 out, and I guess it did strop up enough to make fuzz sticks with hair. But my camera sucks donkey for shots that close up.

A polished edge will last longer than a rougher edge, and cut through materials better in my experience. It won't stay super polished for long, but it holds a workable edge.
