Photos Let's see your shop!!!

I'm definitely with you on that one John. I HATE having mess or clutter in my shop. Clean shop=clean work for me, most times. Working in a small area seems to amplify even the smallest amount of disorganization and/or contamination. Seriously cool thread and shops by the way gents.:)

Blessings,
Joshua

I'm glad this thread has gained traction. Thank you everyone. It's really cool too see.
@john april I think that's a psychological thing. I've heard about messy houses cause more anxiety and stress. Cleaning is like my decompression. Granted my "shop" consists of one 6ft bench lol

I've heard that "clutter" is the sign of a creative mind!

Finally got the shop to the point I could take a pic, still much clutter though. I don't have anything neat to see, just bare-bones basic equip. The Shop.jpg forge.jpg
anvil and forge are kind of at my right elbow as I was taking the first picture.

I just moved and leased a rare live work industrial loft, very hard to find
I'll need a month to build out, but right now the grinding room is being built, 8'x12'
I'll update in a few weeks, but here it is
I also just learned I have 3 phase power
the vent hood will be for hot work with a side wall exhaust fan and ducting

That's great man. Saw your new sign on IG congrats on the building

There's a difference between a mess and an organized mess. No matter how messy things get, i can always tell when the wife came out and borrowed a hammer or something because it is never where it should be. She says, "how can you tell, everything's just randomly strewn about". She doesn't understand organized messes.

As a simple hobbyist this thread is making me incredibly jealous. My “shop” is a combination of: The back patio for hot work. A single work bench in the basement holding a 1x42 grinder, benchtop wood bandsaw, and a drill press for dirty work. Finally a TV tray in front of the couch for clean work. Oh yeah and I stuck a toaster oven in my kids toy room for tempering because that’s the closest room to the patio ;)

Here's where I was prior to August.

And then I finally moved into the barn. I mean really, no kidding, there's hay stored above me barn.

Yes, I cleaned up before taking pictures, at least a little, because I'd sprayed for beetles a couple weeks ago and had a layer of them that needed sweeping up, and so H HSC /// doesn't give me a rash of shit :p

Tool chest is labeled in case I want to ever put something back in the same place I got it, which is rare. I should have just labeled every drawer "stuff."

It's got a ways to go before I'll say "done." Need to stud up and steel the exterior walls, figure out heating, add dust collection to the grinding room, but for the most part, considering where I was, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at. Power hammer is about the only additional equipment I want to shoe horn in here and I think that'll be easy enough.
