I think this is the one we have been waiting for! Traditional stamped bolster and no shield. Thank you jwb01 jwb01 for the heads up! If anyone wants to know where to get these feel free to open a conversation with me also. I cannot tell if they are a SFO or will be widely available. I just quickly ordered one to be safe.
They are an SFO. However these seem to be a non SFO......

I love the old Case XX stamp, I don't know what they are thinking with the new one. Looks really redundant with the same one on the tang.
Still, I'm just happy they are making them again. As soon as they release one in CV with yella delrin I'll be all over it :D

This is a perfect example !
Case knocked it out of the park with this beautiful Case XX Campfire Bone Barlow.
It was over a 30 day pre-order and Case even threw in a really nice magnetic display with a letter apologizing for the delay
This was worth the wait let me tell you .
Instead of going on with what’s so nice about this one . I will just leave it at Case did not miss a area that would make you want to run to the highest mountain top and scream I love my Case XX Barlow .
I will end it with wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can not stop smiling and let me tell you only a few traditionals has done this to me .

New Barlow arrived this evening. Happy that Case used the embossed bolster. The burnt bone looks real nice in person. Overall good fit and finish, nice snap opening and closing. Only complaint would be a bit of blade play when closed.

Outstanding Knife! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

And of course, I like your B&O square. :D

Now, I MUST search! :p:D

Great knife (just saw yours in another thread).

[edit]

and SUDDENLY pics appear! :eek::p:D

I picked up a new Case Barlow, and I'm very happy with it. Fit is not at the level of GEC, but this is less expensive. Things are rounded off nicely so that there are fewer sharp corners to deal with, notably where the bolster meets the cover and on the blade tangs. Much more comfortable in hand.

The action is quite good. The joint was terribly gritty at first. Flushing it made a huge improvement.

Blade bevels were pretty even, though the actual edge was rough. Ten minutes on the stone got it to a clean mirror edge.

Bonus for me is that it is legal in Cleveland while still allowing four fingers on the handle.

Anyhow, it's a nice piece. I do agree with some others that the non-shield with stamped bolster would look better. But I will be happy to hang onto this one.

She’s a beauty !!
I really think you should try the case xx Barlow . It rivals most of the Gec’s I’ve ever had at a lower price point .
I’m not knocking GEC as there one of my favs but this Barlow I just received is remarkable!! Blade is dead centered , no gaps in the liners , pins set perfectly , smooth walk and talk very snappy with a perfect pull about a high 5 with no grit .
Smooth transitions everywhere .
I like it so much I might buy a duplicate to make a safe queen .

TheFactor TheFactor the Case XX limited run is an attractive pattern. They should make more of those. I’m willing to sacrifice a bit of fit for a pattern that’s been around for a few generations.

I’m not sure if your referring to a sacrifice on the limited run case xx Barlow . But I assure you if there all like the one I received there will be no sacrifices.
This Barlow pattern has been around for a long time . Unless your referring to the campfire bone covers and no shield making it not a pattern that’s been around .
I’m sorry I’m just trying to figure out your post no disrespect Sir :)
I guess the sacrifice in fit and finish you spoke of is of the new release I’m assuming or is it you prefer the one’s that’s been around for generations for the sacrifice?

Got my clip blade campfire bone in on Thursday. Really nice finish, good snap. Reasonably sharp.

Case, if anyone there is reading, please give us one in 154cm with the Case XX bolster stamp before you put the Barlow back up please. Some sawcut bone or second cut bone would be fitting.

I see there was also a half congress in the same campfire bone but I seem to have missed out on that one. Will have to keep my eyes peeled.

TheFactor TheFactor my experiences are that fit and finish are good to excellent, but Case just isn’t quite to the level of a GEC on a consistent basis. Case are great values and offer patterns that have been around for generations. I’d rather own a decent Case in a pattern I like than a perfect GEC.

I like and own GECs, I just don’t feel any sentimental attachment to them. I’ve owned a Case of some kind or another for close to sixty years. That means something to me. I don’t let a small issue keep me from enjoying a knife like my grandfather may have carried in the early 1900’s.

That sounds great, I may have to work one in.

I respect your reply :)
I’m new to Case so I can’t say anything about the consistency. But the two I received the fit and finish are outstanding . I’ve had many Gec and have had a handful that missed the mark for me but many that have .
I think with hand made knives consistency might be a tall order even with a custom .
With that being said let’s enjoy them all regardless :)
