Thanks, Charlie, It is 3 1/4", whereas the 45 cattle pattern is 3 5/8". I got the info on the 53 pattern from the Case info section on AAPK's site (my edition of Steve Pfeiffer's "Collecting CASE KNIVES" (2nd Ed.) didn't have info on the 53). Ron Half/Stop thought that the spear/spey combination was unique.

I looked in Pfeiffer's book also. I called Tony Foster, and he directed me to an old pocket guide for these!!
The top two are a 6230 and and a 6230 1/2. Same length as yours!!
I wonder what the difference is??
At bottom is a 6245.
