Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Since we're posting Tribals today... updated shot of my two. Close as I can get with the colors (on my monitor at least). The smooth antique bone has a slight bit more yellow-orange in the color, and the whiskey bone needs about a 1/3 stop exposure increase but that brightens the overall photo a bit too much. So, best compromise.

That's a nice looking trapper, or tapper, whichever.... :D

I like that bone, is that part of the appaloosa bone run? Very nicely done...
Appaloosa bone is some my favorite Case handles. This one is a 1980 which is when Case was doing a lot of appaloosa and it sure looks like appaloosa, so I say yes it is. I have, I think, eight other appaloosa bone Case's and they are all smooth bone. This is the only jigged appaloosa I have. This one was sold by Cabela's and has a serrated spey. Not the best pic:

In an effort to distract myself from all the nifty Tribal Locks, I'll post these Delrin jacks from the late 70s. I don't think I paid more than $30 or so for any of them. All have great action--the big 31 1/2 is smooth but it's a doggone bear trap. You have to be careful with it. It's also got that nice long nail nick.

The 31 1/2 and one of the 35 1/2s were mint when I got them 3-4 years ago. The 31 1/2 is still pristine, but I've carried the 35 1/2 on the left a good bit and it's got a lot of patina now. I gave the other 35 1/2 to a buddy.

A great pattern well executed. I'd love to find one of these in bone sometime.

This just might be my new favorite pattern!
Snowbelly Buffalo Horn from there latest run.
Omg it’s nice in every area! I’ll tell you what Case is really on there game these days not that they weren’t before but this is like my 4th or 5th in Rowe that have just blown me away and this one just might be at the top of my favorite list .

I bought this 62032 a while back, and while I usually love amber bone, this one's color wasn't doing it for me. It became my subject of experimentation with dye. First try was red, which did not go well, so then went with black in an attempt to cover up my first try... This created a very unappealing purple. Finally, after sitting on the shelf for a while, I decided to try one last time with a bright yellow. I'm not sure i could get these same results again, but may need to try because now i love it!20210327_083329_copy_612x816.jpg 20210327_083113_copy_612x816.jpg

I had a similar experience dying some curtains. The clerk at the fabric store told me that I could use tea or coffee in lieu of dye, so I soaked them in some very strong coffee and the result was rubbish. Not wanting to admit defeat, I added about a quart of ketchup for an even more rubbish result. It could have been an episode of Red Green meets The Three Stooges. I'm glad your knife turned out better than my curtains.
