Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Yes, I understand your reaction. The Whiskey Bone on mine was rather too Orange for my taste when it arrived. A Tea bath soon darkened the scales in a satisfying way though

Good job on the tea bath.

As I've mentioned, I think I got lucky with my copy of the whiskey bone. Not too dark, not too orangey for my tastes. I don't think I've ever taken and posted images of both sides in the same conditions.

To me, this appears orangish overall, tones ranging from red to near white. Colors shift depending upon the color temp of light and the angle of the light and viewing. This the closest representation to what I see with my eyes under the light used for the images.

Mark side I normally post:

Pile side I rarely show:

If anyone is interested in how I handled the shots:

Both taken this morning, daylight-balanced studio light, knife at the same angle and distance from the light and same approximate angle and distance from the camera, same camera settings. Just flipped the knife between shots, tried to get the handle angle as close as possible. Raw file opened in my processor, minor differences in exposure leveled before any other processing. Processed the same way I process all my images, then cropped and resized for the web. I didn't even spend time cleaning up the images, hence the visible dust. I use Fuji cameras, and I find their standard profile (Provia) to be a bit too bright with certain colors so I tend to use a couple of toned down profiles (Classic Chrome and ProNegHi) depending on the colors in the photo. Reds and oranges tend to be a bit too bright with the standard profile, classic chrome looks closest to what I see with my eyes under the light used for the photos.

Ever notice there's no perfect knife?
This single blade mini-trapper comes close but it could be better. I'd like to see it with a regular clip blade, possible one like the Texas Jack but of course longer.:) Although then, I'd probably want it with a different cover... o_O
Anyways, here's a great knife I enjoy often.

Thanks Gus and yes, all copper are the best along with all steel pennies.
I heard somewhere that one cent coins are pretty much a thing of the past for the entire country of Canada. 🇨🇦
I do love your 18 pics! Real nice bone! :)

Just after WWI, Case started making civilian knives in earnest! They used this Rogers bone for some of the Case Testeds, dyed brown over a nice rich yellow!!
Big hunka Jack knife, almost as big as a #99, this one is a #6231 1/2!!Rogers 6231 half A.jpgYellow 6231 half C.jpgYellow 6231 half A.jpg
