Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

If they would just take the occasion to upgrade the steel to 154cm, like they occasionally do, it would be so much easier to justify.

A (very)little history on this knife. I am 45 years old, but tend to have older friends. One of my closest friends is Joe. He's in his mid 70's (I can never remember exactly HOW mid 70's), and though my dad is alive, and we have a close relationship, I call Joe "Dad" out of respect and love. A few years back, he came by for a visit, and I noticed a black handle sticking out of his pocket. I figured he wanted a knife sharpened, so I asked about it. He pulled out this beauty, and handed it to me. He said it had been his father's knife, and he wanted to give it to me. I protested, of course, but Joe has a way about him that ends protests. He just says "Shut up", and won't take it back. Now, it looks like someone was using it to cut concrete blocks, and it also looks like someone tried to sharpen it with a grinding wheel. All I have done is put a nice edge on it.

My admittedly cursory research (pronounced Google) tells me that it might be pre-1940, and that seems consistent with the time period Joes father would have lived. Any expert opinions on that?

Sorry I managed to mess this post up for you. Folks! Pretend like you are seeing a nice Case with inlaid stone work!
Something about the image won't even let me edit out the modern knife with the site edit functions.
The moderns are in his signature.

Just picked up this 2016 Texas Jack but I tried to age it to resemble the CaseXX Tested Greenbone, which are such a beautiful color.

Here is my third vintage Case, a ten dot Case XX USA Barlow. The red bone Barlows were the ones that really opened my eyes to the beauty of these early Case knives.

To me, this knife is much better than the TC Barlows and costs a lot less. Not that I cannot appreciate the TC’s. I have one, and they are great knives. However, they are trying to recapture a look and feel that the vintage Case Barlows already have in spades.

I carry this knife often and wouldn’t have it any other way.

I got this one off the Exchange last week. It's my first Case stockman & I like it. It has some blade rub, but the snap is really good on all three blades & the fit & finish is good. A couple touch up passes on the Sharpmaker & it was razor sharp. I think it's going to get a lot of use.
