Here is my first effort to get a nicer collectible. It is a 65-69 Copperhead, 6249. I chose this pattern, because of the shape and size. It is a handful, which I like, and the bolster protects your hand from the sharp edge of the tang. I have not seen a lot of them in this thread. I like a bit of color around the edges rather than solid, although I would imagine that a bright solid cherry red is the most sought after. Is that correct?

I have plowed through every page of this thread, and yes, it has cost me some money in purchases! But I now feel like I have a basic understanding of vintage Case knives, and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. I have two more vintage knives to show then a few modern ones that I believe are worth holding on to.

Thanks for opening this thread MerryMadMonk MerryMadMonk I believe your collection wins the prize followed closely by @paulhilborn and @Txjohn . Sorry if I overlooked anyone, but my head is spinning after 90 plus pages of beautiful photographs!

Wow, nice first effort with that one.

Robin P Pipeman was the thread starter. I miss him and hope he is doing well. Charlie (@waynorth) has the finest collection of vintage Case knives I've ever seen. Really something to behold! I think he's posted some here and maybe we can get him to post some more!

Some Case collectors call this "pretty bone" or just "bone"

to distinguish it from the red bone of the Case XX era (1940-1964) which is almost strawberry red.

As far as I know, Case never advertised a particular bone color back in the day. Collectors came up with red bone, pretty bone, green (all-I-see-is-brown) bone, etc.

Monk is that last one a 6220?
Be still my heart that knife is something else. That is the kinda knife that got me started on knives. I grew into a Case man quick when I saw the old redbones.

Thanks! I agree the prices are high. I luckily found this one at almost half price.
