Wow Chief, what a nice collection. I'll take one of each....you selling?:D

I ordered an elephant ivory pocket knife. I'm super excited to get it, but I wanted to use it daily. I wanted a gentleman's knife to use day to day. Is this a bad idea with elephant ivory? I see that most of the ones pictured are without patina and look almost new. I want to use the "ish" out of this knife. Is that a bad idea? Is there anything I should know about elephant ivory for its use? I know how to care for carbon steels and like patina myself; but should I do that with this knife?

Not a traditional slip joint but a R.W. Loveless "City Knife" pattern made by Eldon Talley. This was Eldon's first City Knife. Mammoth Ivory and ATS-34. 5 3/4" OAL.

I think most folks that collect Ivory handled knives, try and keep them nice, and pristine, sorta as collector pieces. I carry one off and on. I try and keep it dry, and try not to get it wet. If you do, just dry it off. Keep the joints oiled (like any knife). As far as using it everyday, as an EDC, its up to you. Try it for awhile, and see if its one you want to use as an every day user. You may find out that you'll want to just look at at from time to time, like to rest of us " Ivory nut jobs". Lol...

Thanks, for the reply. I think, I am going to force a patina on it; because I don't wanna worry about stuff in the joints or rust. I have a "Lime Cutter" that I use compulsively for food. I bought this pocket knife, so that when I need a knife in public, I don't have to pull one of my tactical knives. I'm adjusting to being a civilian, and wanting to use knives pragmatically. Knives are my newest addiction, and I just love them. I figured, I needed a pocket knife that befit my age and stature in life. So, I bought an ivory whittler - I'll show a pic next, I have to use Tapatalk - it's my first pocket knife since being an Eagle Scout. I do think, since it is what it is, I'll be saying 'let me cut that for you,' like I always do, anyways.

Thanks Paul! Much appreciated.

All of the Northwoods ivory-scaled knives in this thread look great. I had convinced myself that I didn't need one, but you guys may have changed my mind.
