Let's see your traditional mammoth and/or ivory

Here is a vintage American Shear I still have in my collection. The color on this one is so creamy and appealing.

I finally got an ivory knife. Actually I got two. I am very impressed with these and have been reading about how people feel that ivory knives feel "warmer" than just regular handled knives. I do not know about all that but they do feel like they have some kind of heftiness with character to them. I probably would not treat these as just any pocket carry knife. I think they feel a little more special than knives that are even the same price. Certainly something to be revered considering their source.

Put a couple other Hawthornes in there too. I really like the Hawthorne size and feel in the hand.

I only carry knives for defense, and I only use them in that capacity. I do not like to let them be seen in public. When I use a knife, it's mostly at home doing "chores." I do use a "Lime Cutter" almost every day to eat or cut up veggies with. OK, so my point is, I ordered an elephant ivory pocket knife. I'm super excited to get it, but I wanted to use it daily. I wanted a gentleman's knife to use day to day. Is this a bad idea with elephant ivory? I see that most of the ones pictured are without patina and look almost new. I want to use the "ish" out of this knife. Is that a bad idea? Is there anything I should know about elephant ivory for its use? I know how to care for carbon steels and like patina myself; but should I do that with this knife?
