2 bladed? My #92 Eureka Jack.
1 bladed? My #93 Ramsfoot.

I could probably pinch open the #93 wearing three pairs of wool mittens.

Those ramsfoot patterns are elusive nowadays. They can be found at auction in the fancier trims for quite a price, but it’s hard to find a micarta.

Is the 92 pinchable all the time? Tidioute only?

is the WCLF pattern pinchable?

So odd, I love the bale on Beer Scouts and Rope/Navy knives, so much better made than the wire bale on the B&C knives.

I think the thing I found most odd about the bail on the bail & chain knives was its shape. It makes sense with the chain, I guess, but it’s not as versatile (and a bit strange looking) without it. I ended up using mine like this.

I can’t think of a two-blade off the top of my head, but my favorite pinchable single blade knives in that size range are the #71 Bull Nose and the #85.

Can the clip also be removed, i am thinking of getting one, it is about the only GEC i can get that i half like, but do not like the clip and chain. If it can be removed might sway me. You have a good weekend.

I don't like the placement (to far from butt of knife) and "unfinished" look of how the bale attaches to the knife....just not all that attractive to me especially in comparison to other knives with bales from GEC. I'm not a big fan of fobs on my knives either, to me its just unneeded bulk.

that’s a tough question, but I’m sure there’s a lot to consider. I’d bet there’s additional safety concerns with a tunnel that you don’t get with a cut.

you’d have to admit it’s pretty impressive though, isn’t it?

Ancient tectonic plates and subduction zones, is my guess. Gotta love the geology of this region. I’m sad the visitor’s center wasn’t open so I could see what they have on it. Small world, friend! Glad to share it with you.

Edit: I’ve been traveling through that cut to get to WV so many times in my life, but that was the first time I stopped. Totally worth it!

I tell you one thing, I didn’t think twice about pulling out my pocket knife like I might in Connecticut. A GEC slip joint might as well have felt like a candy bar. Can’t tell you how much I like that freedom.
Believe it or not, the top of that mountain was the valley floor of the original Appalachian Mountains, like when they were the size of the rockies. The cap rock at the top of the cut was the sandstone creek bed. The mountains on both sides are gone and the mountain you drive through was the valley floor. Very rare. Thus the strata you see is in the smiley face orientation, at the top of a mountain.

I put sterling studs in there before my bail and chain 15 was harvested for its clip blade. I still consider making sterling crosses to embed in those spear b&c.

I'm a little newer to GEC so I don't yet own a 2 blade GEC with a pinchable main but I agree with those that said the 93 ramsfoot is the best single blade pinchable knife. It was one of my first GECs and still my favorite. Plus gotta love that cocobolo.
