Lets talk GEC!

Same thing the Politicians said when they took our guns and knives away. :p
I'm going to let this topic go, knife content. ;)

The M&G Trappers were some of GEC's finest from 2020 - I am very pleased to have been able to land a couple. The #35 frame is a favorite, I hope GEC does more with it in the future.

A B&S and a Stag Churchill would round this assortment out quite nicely.

Poor lighting but good wood.

Edit: this one looks great but the pivot is pretty tight. I’ve flushed it well but it is still a bit sticky right before closing. I’ll have to cycle through it a few dozens of times to loosen it up. Back spring is a touch proud at open, more so at half (not a bid deal). The blade grind, shape, and sharpness are superb.

Well I’m one happy camper. She’s got a proud tip (if you can believe it), so I think the tang filing is going to sing the spring in the closed position ever so slightly, but otherwise flawless. The edge has a small ding in it somehow, but the factory edge never lasts long in my house, anyways. For the price? Couldn’t be happier.

Nice one! Be careful filing that tang. It seems a lot closer to the blade edge on these knives than a lot of the other GECs I’ve seen.

oh believe me- I’m less than excited to do it. I’m going to thing long and hard about it first. Maybe make a cardboard edge protector. More than anything I’m worried about inducing blade rap.

the other approach with a spear is to file the tip until it gets buried... but it’s too nice of a blade to change like that so soon.

Fantastic grain on that one!

Its been mentioned how bill is trying to make enough knives for everyone, enough to be able to stay in stock for a little longer. Theyve been making a lot of these 15s but the thing is, its a bunch of different 15s. Does he not know how buying gec knives work? A large amount of the people purchasing them are compelled to buy most/all of the variations.

What a difference a swedge and long pull does to a knife blade, that Cocobolo blade looks so much nicer than the 15 jig plain blade

Absolutely agree! Been yearning for a long pull Spear Barehead, gives the knife a sexy elegance

But, looks like I'll be a voyeur to all this in Europe, GEC may be releasing more knives but each batch vaporises before they leave the factory ;) I might contact a dealer but I note that all the prices on that store have risen exponentially....funny, not.

You could also do a bit of sharpening of the blade to get your preferred angle before you file the kick to give a mm or two of space.

Thanks! I’m very thankful it looks this good.

I tend to prefer nail nicks and a drawn swedges but on this knife the long pull and cut swedge look perfect.
