Lets talk GEC!

Sorry, just couldn't resist.

The handle materials are

Cocobolo
Green Camel
Blue Camel
Black Camel (I think)
Surprise Handle.

Derrick, are we going to see another release of the Forest Jacks with the single spear point blade?

I hear that! I'm jonesin for a Fremont jack and a spear point forest jack would rock too, I missed out on the first run.

I've been out of the hobby for a while, but GEC has me interested all over again.

Thanks to Derrick for the swift response!

Derrik I am sure the selections you have posted are going to be wonderful. And, Im interested in the mystery handle....may it be mammoth? :D

I sure would love to see a run (in any pattern around 3 1/2 closed) in old tan peachseed jig bone or a sawcut autumn gold.

Just a nudge or hint for the future. :D;)

I think black camel bone may be coming on a different knife. I think this one has undyed.

some days I can't keep any of this stuff straight! :)

This may be a question that calls for me to contact GEC themselves but I thought I would try here first. How far does GEC know their production schedule? Or, a better question I suppose would be; how far ahead will GEC allow us to know their production schedule? I know they post a few knives ahead on their site, but do they know what they are going to be working on 6 months out?

The reason I ask is because my daughter on the way is due in July and I would love to know what pattern may be coming around that time. Of course, that may be part of the lure with GEC , in that we wont find out that far ahead.

Publicly, maybe a month. They have a general idea of future plans, but nothing definite. Their actual working schedule, not public, might be a couple or three months, and subject to change for a number of reasons.

Thanks Bob.
I had a feeling it would be as you stated. Out on a snow day here and I suppose I was bored in asking.
Some of the fun is not knowing. :)

This is sort of along the lines of what Brett was wondering..... what is the next knife GEC will make? The #38 or the #15? I have to say the #38 doesn't excite me, but the sheepfoot 15's do! Haven't seen a lot of updates on the GEC site lately...... I'm sure I'm not the only one who checks it several times a day. :D

I don't think either one is next. We'll have to wait and see.

Your closer to the info than we are. I thought the charlows were supposed to be run sometime this month. That was the rumor.

I heard early March which made me think the 38's were next. Whatever it is, the suspense is killing me!
