Here is a nice #66 I picked up a while back......

Is that really a GEC? It looks like a Scagel stamp, and I don't remember GEC punching a hole in the blade. Of course I haven't been at this as long as most...... Info on this please...

Confirmation From the #48 Master 2Dead:

"Ah, I wasn't aware of the barehead requirement... I believe GEC only made the Tidioutes bareheaded and I only have the Tractor Green one. These are among the least expensive GECs you can get and have been much cheaper than many of my CSC. Another barehead GEC made are the ones they made as Scagels but those will be higher priced."

Avoidspam, I was just looking at mine this morning and thinking GEC really nailed it with this one. The blade hole really assures a positive opening grip (I pinch mine).

Now if only I had gotten one of the ivory ones!

Agreed, the a Ivory ones are pure class:)

Yep, the Scagel Fruitports were made by GEC on the #48 pattern. At the time, only the Scagels and the Tidioutes were bareheaded. Since then, GEC has made the 2 blade #48 Woodcock (bird knife) and the Northwoods Hawthorns as bareheaded knives as well. There were a couple short runs at last years' Rendezvous that were bareheaded as well.
