Good point Charlie. I’m not loving it either. I’m on standby for one and if I get the invoice I’m not turning it down!

I was pumped to be down for a Northfield Jigged Bone version until I saw the shild. I agree with you as well Charlie it's fine but it doesn't seem to fit the #38 pattern very well. When I first saw the photos I thought "What are they going to write on those?" I think it's because it's so squared off in my mind at least it seems to be calling for an inscription of some kind. So I got a very nice surprise yesterday when my dealer emailed me and asked me which did I prefer the Jigged Bone or the Wood? :eek::D

In general most of us (myself included) spend so much time thinking about what we'd want, we forget that we'll be perfectly happy with what we get. I say good for you, and well won.

Right now I'm not a huge fan of the shield shield (shield shield shield), but I think I'd be happy enough with one in my pocket. If it weren't for that bloodwood Tidioute looking so darn good, we'd probably all love the Northfield.
 
Well, I guess I missed the bloodwood 38. I happened to be sitting down to eat lunch and saw I had the email from a large dealer. It was about 11:55. I clicked on it and it showed no stock so I kept constantly refreshing. As soon as it showed stock I tried to purchase and it was already out of stock. It could not have been more than 15-30 seconds. No point in even bothering with another dealer I guess.

Looking forward to seeing pics when people start getting these.

Here's an image I found on AAPK of a similar shaped shield that Schrade put on a knife for FFA. This was in the vein of my wishful thinking, but we've never seen them come back and add engraving after assembly. The shields always get pinned having already been stamped.

Maybe they're going to do an etch on them. Maybe they just put a silver mylar sticker over them so we can't see what's there. Maybe they're having fun with our addiction. Maybe they haven't updated the production schedule because they are re-covering them because of complaints. Maybe they are doing a run without shields. Or another cover they haven't told us about. Maybe Bill Howard has been abducted by aliens and they took him to another galaxy to learn how to drive knife nuts out if their minds. I saw the last theory on the cover of a paper at the grocery store.
