Lets talk GEC!

If you like the knife I would recommend buying it without concern of lock up.
Thanks for the input. Your response reminded me of a philosophy I've tried to follow when agonizing over buying one of life's little luxuries, "You only regret the things you didn't do (buy)." So I bought a #83 in Bocote and am extremely impressed with the fit, finish and function, as well as the basic design. Now if I could only find one in ebony...

I'm loving the Remington trapper a lot. Although the bullet shield doesn't have a pin on the backside like the Tidioute shields. Could it still be pinned in place? what do you guys think?

Awesome, it's a great knife. Ebony would be a nice addition. Keep an eye out for orange camel. The camel has just a touch more weight and the color is fun.

Havent heard this, what makes you think that the shield wouldn't be pinned?

I was comparing the production photos of the Remington and the Tidioute #73's and the bullet shields don't have a stem like the Tidioute shields. Maybe they're added later? That left me wondering if it's going to be pinned. I remember when the AMKCA #97 was released the shields were glued because of the way it was designed. Although GEC didn't make the shield

Oh boy, I can actually duplicate an image of some of Mr. CC’s collection (with knives from my collection)!

Mark and Charlie waynorth waynorth . I like it a lot!

I’ve occasionally thought of that as its own thread topic, if it’s not already been done. Pictures duplicating or in the notable style of another Porch member. But I would want it to be taken as a homage and with a chuckle, not in any other way. I’ve done it a few times when I knew the individual would think it a complement and get a laugh out of it (such as when the subject knife was once mine).
