Lets talk GEC!

I think that’s fair. There was a time when, even if there was a button made for the pattern, only about 1 in 4 came with one.

Yep, I remember that. I started buying GEC knives in 2015, and with a few exceptions (Beer Scouts), pins were few and far between. Must’ve still been the case in 2018, or I’d have a couple more examples of the pin I had asked about.

If GEC makes a purple-handled Prince-themed knife, I guess I’ll have to buy one and take it on a photo tour like I did when Pearl visited. 😁

I'm down for anything purple. 🤩
That 72 is actually one of my most prized GEC's.... They called it Violet Pioneer Bone. Doubt they'll ever make another but it's one of my favorites because my son's favorite color has always been purple since he was about a year old.

Markeologist Markeologist , there have been so many great runs, but I agree that few can compare to the Beer Scouts. It takes a while to fully understand how a knife will be viewed in the long run. It is clear now that the Beer Scouts will stand the test of time. I enjoy the 85 Crownlifters as much as my Beer Scouts, but I do not believe they will become as sought after. I cannot wait for the day when GEC does another run of Beer Scouts albeit with a different name. To me, it is irrelevant what they call it. The pattern just works perfectly as Bill Howard designed it. It cheers you up just to carry one.

On a side note, wouldn’t you love to have a sneak peek inside GEC’s Bone Room? It seems to be Bill’s most closely guarded secret. Even Randy Bell never reveals any details of what occurs there.

View attachment 1661553Has there ever been another GEC release like the Beer Scout Knife? Besides pins, the Beer Scouts also had the Beer Scout Knife Club membership and the availability of the pint glasses…will always be one of my favorite GEC offerings!

Has anyone ever actually written their name on the tube? 😁

GEC does have some interesting (sometimes very quirky) marketing, packaging, etc. The Beer Scout Knife certainly stands out. Heck, I thought Medium Rare and Well Done for the lighter and darker Ebony on the Angus Jack was pretty brilliant.

Can't wait to see what's dropping next!
I'll be in for a nice #81 Moose pattern!
...and more bone covers! Wood is nice, micarta is great but bone is the most beautiful! :)

And any idea what happened to the batch of H10 fixed blades? Have seen the picture of these more than a month ago in the "What's happening?" section and never heard of it after that.
