Lets talk GEC!

I definitely would be delighted with a run of 81s. I wasn't around for the Stockman run and I convinced myself that I wouldn't use the Bull Moose when they were released - something I regret every time I see one.
"Even a blind hog can find an acorn every now and then!" Earlier this year, I was lucky and made a trade for this set of 81's from 2017 w/ another outstanding BF member.... I sure like them, their smooth operation, and several are in service. ;)

"....the knives Tom, the knives!" Okay!

There, they can discuss GEC prices to their hearts content.

The Traditional Forum is for the discussion of knives, not their prices and not the purchasing process.

Thread is now open.

Sincere thank you for the clarification knarfeng knarfeng . Some say being a forum moderator is a thankless job but not this time.

I took a ride from Rochester, NY to "Mecca" today ..... I got there just as the production workers were breaking for lunch..... It looked like the production pit was busy, but I couldn't see what they were working on......
Joan Mae helped me with a transaction in the store, then I was on my way to my next destination up by Lake Erie....
Here is a photo of Joan Mae and some old Coot from Rochester....

Very cool - what was the result of the transaction?

I got an S model 2AB in green micarta..... I believe the last one she had..... I didn't get a chance to photograph it yet..... it looks like it became an S model from a miscue when the blade was punched..... It has a ghost image of the outline of the blade like it had been struck twice.....

I am just getting started, these are a few I just bought. The GEC quality is stunning. Looking at prior threads, I have a long way to go. Are there pattern numbers on these things ? Clearly I have much to learn, so far all I know is what I like. I blame that Paddy Peeler guy for getting this bug.

That’s a pretty nice start! There are patterns on each knife on the tang of one of the blades… first two numbers are the pattern number, third number is the type of the main blade, fourth number is the number of blades, and last two numbers are the year of manufacture. For example, on the bottom one (one of the best patterns, my opinion), on the sheepsfoot blade tang it should say 291319. That is the 29 pattern (stockyard whittler), main blade is a clip (1), there are three blades, and it was made in 2019.

What about that GEC hat?
