Lets talk GEC!

Bail, shared spring, equal end, and 3 1/2", chef's kiss, edit to add pinched bolsters, really the NF version is where all the love is had!
Some had bails and some not. Equal end and single spring make them thinner and lighter. I love the equal end configuration.

My inner curmudgeon is irritated with how GEC is conducting its release news. I very much prefer the days where they announced the run in its entirety (for the most part) and we get to discuss it all in one place. With how things are now, we are left to speculate and we end up with multiple threads that either have to be merged or edited to accommodate the news as we get it.

It used to be much cleaner.

Anyway, it doesn't say anything about a bail on the White Owls. It will be interesting if they come with one or not. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a blood red jigged bone on these - it feel like it's been a spell since they have run that material.

Blood red or a nice olive green jigged bone would be great!

The first GEC knife I ever handled was back around 2008. It was a gun at the Monroeville Convention Center in Pittsburg, Pa.. I know that it was the first show there after it had been shut down for several years. I was very impressed with the quality and hadn't been into traditional knives since the early 80's, when I collected mainly CASE XX and USA knives. I'm pretty sure that it was a representative from GEC showcasing and selling the knives.

How similar to size and feel are those white owls to the conductors? If anyone had a side by side I'd be very interested in seeing.

No pix side by side but I can tell you they're different. The White Owl is a Cigar shaped Equal End and quite broad in the handle. Whereas, the Conductor is a slimmer pattern and a Swell Centre but has decent bade size. The White Owl feels much the larger of the two in hand, but in no way bulky.

What draws people to white owls? Is it the size? Haven't had or handled one before but they come up often as topics of conversation and/or on want lists.
Good looks, no tedious half-stop ;) compact yet a broad handle, good W&T and CHARISMA:cool:
